macbook pro core i7 high res anti-glare screen garbled graphics

My two month old macbook pro consistently (once every day or two) produces a garbled up screen after using it for a few hours. The only way to resolve this is to restart the computer. I've talked with apple support and have gone into the store for help and so far everyone is clueless and offer no real advice. I can't take a screenshot on the machine once this occurs, the picture just comes up blank, but I did take pictures with my cellphone.

Has anyone else had a similar issue and is this most likely a graphics hardware error?

I thought I read somewhere on this post that someone had their logic board replaced and they don't have the problem anymore?

My 1 year warranty expires May 3rd...$387 bucks for 2 more years of warranty seems excessive (I could get an ipad 1 for that much!). I might take mine in to see what they say. I don't have much confidence though.

Since this issue occurs randomly, what kind of info (other than a photo of the problem) can I bring to the genius bar to prove there is a problem? A link to this thread!?

drm31078,
I've had my logic board replaced twice and it still occurs. It is not a fix, I still keep taking my into Apple while it's garbled and they say there isn't anything to do except replace the logic board again. I figure I will keep doing this until my warranty expires, or Apple acknowledges this a problem, or they give me a new computer. One of those is bound to happen eventually.

I started having the same problem shortly after buying my macbook in September. Took it into the genius bar last week. Although I showed them the garbled screen when I brought it in they could not later recreate the problem and tried to tell me it was fine. They ended up replacing the logic board because I insisted something was wrong. Now 4 days later after having the logic board replaced back to the same problem. urgh. Making another appt to go back and show them. I wonder what they will do next. What a pain.

I took it again this weekend after the problem continued despite getting a new logic board. The guy did some software updates and basically said good luck. I took it in when the screen was completely garbled and he was able to resolve it by logging in/out and not having to restart and thus concluded it was a software and not a hardware issue. He said that if this software update didn't solve the problem then I would just have to wait for the next one but that there was nothing else they could do. Which *****!!!!User uploaded file

It surely does - although there may well be nothing more they can do there to fix that computer, beyond saying 'sorry, here's a new model'.

Keep on it, keep records of dates & what may have prompted it, take photographs, copy logs if you get panics or crashes. If you get nowhere, write it al down - what happens, when it started, how often, & send a letter to Apple asking how they intend to make it right.

STOP THE PRESSES:

Could this be proof of the issue? All thought it says windows, this is very similar to what Mac users are seeing and there are some mac bugs still listed.

Also, read down into bugs audio/video bugs: it specifically mentions macbooks, etc:

Has anybody been getting Kernel Panics in relation to this issues? I have this problem probably once a week, and sometimes it does lead to a kernel panic. Its possible that these two issues are separate, but I did just recently have a Kernal Panic when no flash was being used, but this was after flash had recently failed and I restarted the browser.

I'm in the process of running a few memory diagnostics, and I have been getting failures, just not the kind of consistency I'd like to see. Memtest86+ consistently finds failures, but Apple Hardware Test (AHT) has been unsuccessful. My next attempt will be with TechTools Pro v5 from a colleague of mine. If that registers a failure, I may have isolated my problem to the memory.

Are kernel graphics when the screen gets kinda blurry and difficult to see because if so then add me to that list also. I'm sure the problems must be related right? This has to be a widespread issue right? Does anyone know if I can contact apple without adding apple care? The genius bar has been no help so far. But this is crazy, it's so annoying to restart my computer when I'm in the middle of something!
