iPod Touch won't turn on !!

I have an 8 GB iPod Touch and it does not turn on, it was working and it just went off and won't turn on. I tried to connect it to iTunes but it is still the same.

Does anyone know what's wrong and how do you fix it ?

Thank you so much. I dropped my ipod and plugged it in, held home button, held shut off button and nothing work. I started freaking out and then tried this and it worked.🙂✅

Mine stopped working right at the end of a podcast, thought it was the battery till it wouldn't charge... then I really freaked out. Glad it was this simple, and thanks a lot guys!

Thanks! My iPod Touch 5 had been sitting with no charger for a while and appeared dead. After using the method of holding the home and power button at the same time, it turned on in around 25 seconds.

I've tried everything - read all the posts. I held the home and power button down what seemed like forever (probably 45 seconds) and it began charging.
