iPod Touch won't turn on !!

THANK YOU SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO MUCH! IT HELPED! I WAS FREAKING!

I updated to IOS4.3.1 yesterday and it worked great 90% battery power when i went to sleep and when i woke up this morning it wouldn't come on I tried the hold the power and home button twice first time it didn't work second time it powered on. I called apple support after the first time I tried holding the home button and pressing power. Both times i was holding the buttons for 20-30 sec. i hope it doesn't happen every night hope apple fixes this

This worked for me, too. I was so upset, but it worked I was so happy!! What you need to do is hold down the power button, and the home button at the same time, but be patient because it took mine over 10 seconds to finally work, but it did, and it took about 15 seconds, so just be patient with it and it will work.

Mine did the same thing! My 8g 1st generation touch shutdown completely with half a battery left on it. Wouldn't respond to a power source or holding the power button. Holding down the power and home button at the same time worked though!! Thanks for the tip!!

OMG dude your like a life saver, that same crap just happened to my 8GB 4g ipod touch and i couldnt get it on until i read this, Thanks.

Yesterday, I told my friend I would take a look at his 8gb 2nd Generation iPod Touch. The problem began with a screen that simply did not respond. You could use the button - open the lock-screen menu, double-click home for ipod controls, etc. but you could NOT utilise the touch-screen functionality!
Also, it was quite unresponsive, and hard-resets (home+power button) did not work.

It was very low on battery, so I decided to let it go completely flat, and recharge to maximum from there. This way it would have to reboot itself.

I set it to charge, and the low power/charging indicator appeared.
I went away for a while, and when I returned, it was blank. It would not turn on after further charging, DFU Mode nor Restore Mode work.

It is like it is completely bricked! PCs don't recognise it at ALL.

What can I do? Is there an equivalent pandora's battery jigkick and magic memory stick for iPod!?

I forgot to mention also that it is NOT jailbroken... 🙂

Having the same problem with my son's Touch. Just for others info, I had to hold the two buttons for probably close to 2mins to get it to work. Til my fingers hurt!

It explains all the BASIC steps to get your iPod Touch going again.

1. *Restart iPod touch:* Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button until the red slider appears. Slide your finger across the slider to turn off iPod touch. To turn iPod touch back on, press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.
If you can’t turn off iPod touch or if the problem continues, you may need to reset iPod touch. A reset should be done only if turning iPod touch off and on doesn’t resolve the problem.

2. *Reset iPod touch:* Press and hold both the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home button for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

Someone help My ipod touch wont turn on. I was using it earlier. I dont know what to do. I did some of the stuff that was posted and its not working. I dont know what to do. Im afraid that something might be really wrong.

Welcome to Apple Discussions!

Plug your iPod into your computer. It won't be recognized until it is charged enough. Wait a little while and soon it should be okay.

If iTunes recognizes it but it still won't turn on, try a hard reset: Press and hold the home and sleep/wake buttons until a red slider appears at the top of the screen. Sliding it will completely power off your iPod. Turn your iPod back on and see what happens.
