PowerPoint 2010 keeps crashing

PowerPoint 2010 keeps crashing when trying to edit text in a presentation. All other Office products seem unaffected. (I haven't tried them all, but I've been working in Access a lot lately and it has been working fine.) This had just started happening and I'm wondering if it has anything to do with the latest Boot Camp update. I'm running Windows 7 64-bit on a 13" MacBook Pro (mid-2009). Is anyone else experiencing this problem?

13" MacBook Pro (Mid 2009), Mac OS X (10.6.5), Also running Windows 7 64-bit

Dear Apple Management,

Please give your utmost attention to this. Currently, I uninstalled BootCamp to use my Powerpoint and re-install to do other work (that uses the Apple Functions).

I trust that this matter is looked into and can expect a fix by 1 Dec 2010. I do not wish to wait for Christmas to get this fix.

Regards,

SK Chin

At this time, the workaround is to uninstall bootcamp 3.2 from windows > control panel > uninstall programs > bootcamp services, then restart -> that will fix your powerpoint issue. It will create other issues like loss of functionality on trackpad/function keys that can be fixed by downloading bootcamp 3.0 from internet and installing it on windows. This is the best solution available at this time - I have tried all other combinations, and this workaround works fine.

Please do contact Apple directly and log this issue with them -> putting it on this chat board will not make them fix it permanently.

After finally finding this thread on the forum i was able to correct the PowerPoint problem by doing exactly what has been already stated. I deleted BootCamp services in Control Panel, used my Snow Leopard disk to reinstall version 3.0. I have successfully been able to use PPT since then on 3.0.

I then realized that I had not had the problem on another Mac (MacBook Pro versus Air) a bit of discovery found that the Air was running BootCamp 3.1. I have now used the Apple Software Update to bring the unit on 3.0 up to 3.1 (gaining back some functionality) and have again successfully been able to use PowerPoint.

Clearly version 3.2 of BootCamp services is the culprit.

Regards.

The installation of Bootcamp 3.2 disables the keyboard language setting in Office 2010 (for reasons unbeknown to me). Go to "File", "Options", "Language" in PPT 2010 and you will see under a the heading "keyboard layout" a hyerlink which says "not enabled". Click on the hyperlink and select a keyboard layout and the keayboard's language. Once you complete the process it will say "enabled" under the keyboard layout heading. That solves the problem with PPT 2010 (at least it worked for me). Good luck!
