i restore my iphone 4 on itunes, but i always get the same error n sent to Recovery Mode, i hit restore again , itunes download the ios again , n still get the same error 1013 n 1611, then the Recovery Screen again.
How can i solve this problem? or i should take it to apple?
Hi, I have the exact same problem and did the same steps... this is driving me crazy. The "gs" thing doesn't apply... it isn't there on my computer. Did you have any luck finding a solution? Thanks, Brent
Thanks a lot Tony, you've totally saved my behind!
Apple please redirect users to this solution rather than taking them to your useless support FAQs which suggests it's probably a hardware issue with user's iPhone 4.
I follwoed these steps but my computer says "Access is Denied" when I try to save the Hosts file. I'm using Windows 7 and the account I am using is the administrator account. How do I fix this?
This works for iPhone 4 factory unlocked AND jail broken with 4.2.1 OS
It started acting strangely and then needed a restore: I tried to restore using iTunes multiple times and always received error 1013... DFU mode didn't work, Tiny Umbrella didn't work, it was a loop of recovery mode and restores.
Used this method exactly for Mac OS and restored perfectly.
I have had the same problem and many more like apps that don't run properly since updating firmware to 4.2. Voicemail, Text, Camera; you name it just crashes. I took my Iphone 4 to Apple and of course the diagnostic program found no problems. It appears Apple is getting big like Microsoft and just as sloppy. Blame the customer appears to be the tool of the day for big corporations. Like Toyota. This is clearly a firmware problem which can only be fixed with new firmware. I've had to reboot and restore my Iphone 4 at least 4 times. I reboot the phone almost daily to get apps to work at all. At this point I would give the Iphone 4 an F.
iPhone 4 got stuck in recovery mode bringing up the error code 1013.
Tried all the fixes on this topic, the iPhone4 in question we purchased SIM free direct from apple here in the UK, none worked just kept getting stuck in the loop.
iTunes is installed on a MacBook Pro.
So called the apple store, went along and was told it was a hardware issue as they couldn't sort it out either, so they rep;aced it and gave us a brand new one.
Initial plug in to iTunes restored the last back up ok and I thought we were cooking on gas.
Then it went in to update mode and hey presto I am right back where I started with the phone stuck in the restore loop with the error code 1013.
On both phones to solve the problem I used 2 MacBook Pro's and a several windows based PC's but to no avail.
In the hosts files there is no gs.apple.com or the related IP address mentioned they seemed fine. When I type gs.apple.com in to safari I get the 404 error page.
I have patiently and wearily read and done all of those 'fixits' described in this subject that I could - do not have access to a PC - absolutely sick to death of it all.
seem to be having the same problem
gs.apple.com comes up as error 404 - so that's OK
nothing in the 'hosts' file to delete
still doing 'loop the loop'
worst frustrations since I had my first Mac way back late 80's!
