ITUNES APP STORE WITHOUT A CREDIT CARD WITH EXISTING APPLE ID

Hey,

I've been trying to create a free itunes app store account. First I read the instructions in this link : http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2534, but the link shows how to create a new account, the problem is that I already have a Apple ID.

On the other hand when I try to sign in in the app store with my existing Apple ID, I get the message "This Apple ID has not yet been used with the iTunes Store please review your account information" with two options "cancel" and "review".

Clicking in review, I go to the page with the terms of service, continuing I go to a page where I have to type my email, my password, question and answer for the password and my birth date. The email field has the email that is being used with my current Apple ID, and the password field has the password of my existing Apple ID. The other fields are blank. Completing them, and clicking in next I go to the payment options page, but there's no "none" option, so I can't make a account withou using a credit card.

Is there a way to create a itunes app store without a credit card with my existing apple ID, or a I have to create a new one ?

After scrolling through pages upon pages of this thread, finding nothing but useless posts by people who didn't actually understand the question at hand.

I had created an account on my computer, then tried to activate it on my ipod - but the none button would not show up.

Desperate, I tried something by ... a user whose name I've already forgotten.

Here is his/her post in full, as their method - surprisingly - worked. Practically no hassle whatsoever involved.

"Chaps,

I just spent much of a morning messing around with this, and I feel I should inform you that this DOES work - but it's not easy. Here's what I did...

1. Signed up for a new Apple ID for my Mum (to whom I have given my old iPad).

2. Signed out of my Apple ID in Settings -> App Store, then signed into hers. Pressed 'review' (re payment et c.).

3. Tried to select 'none' as payment method, only to be confronted with the problems listed above (i.e. that 'none' did not exist).

4. Googled, experimented, cursed.

5. See 4.

(Current poster's note: make sure you are running iOS 5+)

7. Enabled iCloud in the iOS 5 setup, signing in with the new ID.

8. Went to the App Store thereafter, tried to download a free app; got taken to the payment review section so beloved of §2 and countless comments above on this thread... and could suddenly select 'none'!

No idea why this worked, but it did. As such, if upgrading is an option for any of you (or indeed, probably restoring from backup, if you signed out of your Apple ID before creating the backup), give this a try.

Good luck - may you spend less time swearing, and more time downloading free apps, than I.

CP"

Basically, sign into iCloud using the ID that isn't working. Then the none button will actually show up.

Click on Redeem, not Sign In. Everything else is the same, but you will get the None option for billing. Don't put in any credit card or redemption code, just fill in the billing address and phone. Done.

This worked for me. Many thanks!

I opened iTunes on the PC. Instead of clicking on Account to login to the account, I clicked on Redeem. This prompted for my Apple ID that I'd previously setup. I logged in with that ID and continued through the process. At that point, the NONE button appeared on the payment options screen. I attempted to select it and Continue, but rec'd a red lettered box asking me to enter a redemption code or contact apple support. I clicked on NONE and next again, and it went through and I am now able to download iBooks with that Apple ID. I wonder what the heck apple did to make this change? Even when I called Apple the other day, the guy on the phone told me "nothing has changed, of course you can create an Apple ID and download free apps w/out a CC". Sigh... Glad it's working now. Until next time when they figure out we figured out this work around. What a PITA.

Okay I need help.

So I've had credit ardent details in my account before, but now it doesn't work. I've tried everything from making a new account and all the suggestions throughout the comments but nothing works and I do not get a none button at all. Credit card details still continue to come up and just ask for security code but once that's put in it still doesn't work. How do I delete the details and gain the ability to get a none button. Please I need help!!!!!
