I too really want a sorting feature in Notes (on iOS AND OSX). Found this thread while searching to find out how to.
It's pretty basic stuff that should be there, in my opinion!
Then you should let Apple know: http://www.apple.com/feedback
This is a user-to-user forum that is not read by Apple.
Reading this I'll say 2 things.
1. It's about time they added this feature. Crazy that it wasn't done sooner
2. Seeing some of the answers I would like to suggest people review the community guidelines again. Everyone has different levels of knowledge about apple, and ios. I remember being new to the iPhone and trying to get out of Blackberry mode (blackberry gave the user a lot more freedom to sort, search and personalize). And dispite how passionate people are about their iPhone (like me - I love it) we should remember that there are things they can improve. There are obvious features they should include. And it is more difficult to customize things on an iPhone
Give people a chance to figure it out and don't shoot down their questions Juat because you don't think it's a necessary feature

There are strong opinions about what features Apple should include. And they are far from universal.

No one "shot down" anyone's question. Allan Sampson gave the correct (at that time) answer to the question and his opinion. And, then, Allan, a man who's spent a lot of time making valuable contributions to this forum, was roundly castigated (for years) by people who don't appear to have added much value to this thread. It get's very wearisome to have people with little or no posting history tell others how they ought to post. If someone violates the Terms of Use, the Hosts will remove the post. Having a different opinion and expressing it, however, is not a violation of the TOU. If you don't like what someone posts, don't read what they write.
Bunny1,
Though it is almost a year later than the original posting, I too sought the answer to the question you posted. I also found Sampson's second response ill-mannered. I admire your restraint and decision not to go at it with him.
And I appreciate the fact that there are many more people in the communities who try to be helpful.
Are you happy with NoteMaster?
Best,
JB
I agree with you proofrock.
I would still prefer the Apple notes to have alphabetical sorting as an option rather than use a third party app, as I would like to continue to synch my notes (along with contacts, calendar etc) in one simple step on my iPhone 4S with Outlook on my PC.
This would be easier than using multiple applications.
I've left feedback to Apple.
Before finding this thread I started a similar one which I hope will receive some suggestions:
Same here. It shouldn't be rocket science to add that feature.
I've gone to Evernotes. Extremely robust and well- designed. I am using the free version and have no complaints.
Thanks for that advice proofrock.
As Evernotes doesn't synch with Microsoft Outlook which is my main organiser, I don't think it's for me.
I'm already running one extra non-native app (Ilium's eWallet) to hold PINs and other data securely, as Apple have not made this available, and I don't want to end up getting multiple synching apps, all because Apple haven't made those basic functions available yet.
Let's hope they address it with IOS6!
