Extra DSP hardware? No thanks, waste of money, no economy of scale, and current computers are plenty powerful enough, they just need full support of all ram and all cores.

Another thing would be a major upgrade of Ultrabeat and EXS24 if Apple don't want to give this field up to third party plugin developers.

I'd say at least in the case of EXS, that horse has already escaped the barn.

without some sort Extra DSP hardware or dongle and one online activation license of Logic Pro for one computer without the dongle, the whole barn is for the taking, one horse is not the issue either, even for hackintosh owners and pirates, since apple gives the farm away without any original owner mandatory Logic Pro serial number registration for access to any Apple Support Communities.

Mike,
You're right with today's MAC PRO there is no need for extra DSP hardware. That's until you get your hand on a UAD plugins. They are game changer. I Remove one of my PTHD# cad to make room for a UAD card.
UNfortunately they are not 100% with PT9 but UAD is working on a fix.
But I don't mind I work on LOGIC PRO with the UAD 2 plugins . To me (and I am not the only one) the UAD plugins are in a league by themselves. SO I am glad I spend the extra $$ BECAUSE THEY ARE WORST IT. Sorry If this sound like a commercial I am not working for them .... I am an old man retired producing songs for the fun of it.

Sorry I wasn't clear. I meant that Apple has already given up the sampler market to Kontakt. EXS is nice for legacy support (although many libraries convert to other samplers just fine) and having an included sampler to create simple user instruments, but I don't see it ever being competitive again.

Well.... if Apple were on the dark side of the force, they'd buy NI and bundle Komplete with Logic Studio. Guess I'll end up with Komplete some day now.

However, some features should be spiced up in the EXS24. I always end up combining the EXS with additional plugins, and therefore must save my instruments as channelstrips. Would be nice to find some basic FX included in the main EXS plugin, but that's only one thing to be mentioned.

With UB, there should be some quick way to build up rhythmic patterns. I own a Boss DR880, and it has a marvelous function called quick edit, where you can construct your patterns out of basic templates. Start with a 8-Beat Base & Snare, add some exciting latin conga on top, spice it up with a 16-beat shaker. Then fry at medium temperature by enhancing the velocities, shuffle in some automatic ghost notes, and there you are. Gorgeous patterns in the twink of an eye. Now add a key command to quick paste the pattern at the playhead position (instead of the annoying drag & drop function), and UB would be my drum machine.
