still waiting for a reply from Crapple.

GUID errors relate to the disk partion map, mine is quite clearly listed in Disk Utility as having GUID Partion Table. (see below)

Disk Description : ST9500420ASG Media
Total Capacity : 500.11 GB (500,107,862,016 Bytes)

Connection Bus : SATA
Write Status : Read/Write

Connection Type : Internal
S.M.A.R.T. Status : Verified

Partition Map Scheme : GUID Partition Table

I too have re formatted and clean installed 10.6.8 and still have the same error.

The GUID in this case is something that's associated with the network adapter. Each network adapter has a number in it which is globally unique. This way Apple can make sure you don't log into your buddies computer and download software onto his machine. What this error is telling me, along with everyone elses thoughts on deleting their network preferences is that the code is making the assumption that your network connections will not change or will not move. Which isn't true at all. For example at my desk, I may be wired, but when I am on the road, I may be on the wireless card. While other times, I might be on a celluar modem card.

My guess is that the developers at Apple didn't take this into account when they wrote the code the first time as they are developers who sit at the same desk all day and code and code and code. Now they then fixed the code, but my guess is that this small bit of code didn't get checked into the 10.6.8 code tree, just into a bug fix tree for 10.6.7 and the 10.7/Lion tree. My guess is that prior to Lion coming out we will get a huge dump of even more bug fixes they found that were a part of the Lion development(the app store is a part of Lion) that needed to be back ported to the 10.6.x tree.

In the mean time, I will have to wait, but I am certain they will fix this as they want my 29.95 to get to Lion! And that looks at most 2 weeks off!

This is what has "happened" so far. I tried using Apple Support. I received one email that answered all kinds of iTunes Store problems. I asked why they were talking about iTunes when I was using the Mac Apps Store. I got an answer sending me to the phone support, where for only $49 they will help me fix my computer issue that the 10.6.8 update caused. REALLY!!!! I love my Macs, but this is absurd.

I add my name to the list. App store was working fine until I did the latest update. Now it is a no-go. I have tried every suggestion shared here and in other posts without success, so will pin my hopes on Apple fixing this before the release of Lion. I did call Apple for help - they asked me to shell out $49 for listening to the problem - which I found hard to swallo as I am trying yo *buy* things from Apple using a tool that does not work - my Macmini is fine otherwise.

Oy vey....

I believe it's related to one of two things on my Mac Mini 2,1: 1) My built-in ethernet port got blown out in a lightning strike a while back and no longer shows up as an installed device in "About this Mac" or as a device that can be added in network prefs and/or 2) I replaced the stock 802.11b/g AirPort card with and 802.11n card out of a Mac Pro.

Does anyone else in this thread share either of these "issues" with me?
