alright to fix it . you hold down the home and power button for 30 seconds . plug it in and it should say restore. click that and update . then you wait for a bit and your good ! then all you have to do is restore from backup ! 🙂 hope it helped.
I had the same problem.
This is what you need to do.
Do as what wjosten has said in the previous thread.
When the iphone goes blank... this is what you need to do.
1. Unhook your iphone
2. Plug your iphone into a wall charger --> this will bring up the apple logo
3. Unplug from the wall charger
4. Wait until the Apple logo goes away (not sure if this is necessary..but this is what I did)
5. Reconnect to your computer.
6. It will ask the same question about how you need to "restore"... just say yes...since iTunes is already downloading, it won't do much.
7. You may have to repeat steps 2-6 if the screen goes blank before the update is fully downloaded.
8. When the update software is full downloaded, just click update...
9.. The rest...you just click away...
I left out one key step (in bold)

My friend showed up at my door this afternoon and handed me her phone with the apple logo frozen on the screen. She couldn't do anything and didn't know what to do. So what else do I do but google it. We tried everything we could find - including everything in this post. Nothing worked. We finally got it to connect to itunes but the only option was to restore it to the factory settings, but she had never backed up her information and didn't really want to lose all of her contacts and some 600 photos and videos. But nothing else was working and without apple care, she would have to go buy a brand new phone (or they would reset it) and she would still lose the info. In a last ditch resort before restoring it, we wondered if her sim card would work in my old iPhone 3. (Not understanding what all the sim card does, we gave it a shot.) We pulled her sim card out and while I was trying it in my phone, within just a couple of minutes her phone lit up with a message saying "no sim card inserted" and in the background was her regular screen. I put the sim card back in and everything had reset itself and was back to normal! Not sure why this worked, or if it would work for anyone else, but if nothing else works, give it a try!
i have the same problem.
my iphone is a 16gb and jailbroken and i deleted all the data and settings and when it finished loading.. my iphone stayed on the apple black screen and does not move.. i have plugged it in to a charger and it will charge but still stays on the apple screen.. i tried the master reset.... and when i take the phone off the charger it dies...
help please!
Hello, Ive never had this problem for 3 years with my iphone 3gs (16gb) until a couple of weeks and the same thing... it wont start cause its stuck on the apple logo, I wasnt restarting anything, i just ran out of battery and so now ive tried to restore it more than 4 times but unfortunatly its not working... i found your comment different and also other people's iphones got fixed by this... so i thought that i will give it a try but still not working, tried what you said and right now im just normaly restoring it without recovery mode, and really hope that it works. This is a software problem and so i think taht i can fix it but has anyone else got and other formulas that i can try to get my iphone back?... please help, i really hope that i can get it to work by doing this, tell you later what happens. Also i have a really good experience with iphone and thats why i have 3 and really hope that i can get it to work... please Help!!!
i have the same issue, my friend was playing with it and i got it back and now it won't turn on. it doesn't go past the apple logo. and im not anywhere near my home computer im at school and don't know how to make it work. please help
Try a Reset... press the home and sleep/lock buttons until you see the Apple logo, ignoring the slider. Takes about 5-15 secs of button holding and you won't lose any data or settings. You may need to hold the buttons for as long as a minute.
After I Restore It Still Does The Same Thing, It Won't Let Me Restore My Backup Either. It Comes On But When I Slide The Slider Thing Over It Gets Stuck Then Turns Off Then Turn Back On & Do The Same Thing. Did Anybody Have The Same Problem? Somebody Help!
I've tried everything. It's not working. iTunes won't show up either. I've charged my phone all night too but the apple logo won't go away and whenever I turn it off and try turning it back on, it requires battery.
It won't let me restore either, in fact iTunes won't even show up when I connect my phone.
NOTHING WORKED FOR ME THAT WAS ALREADY POSTED HERE
HERE IS AN UPDATED VERSION THAT DID:
before starting make sure itunes in open and ready on your computer
1. Unhook your iphone (make sure it is turned off to begin with)
2. Plug your iphone into a wall charger - this will bring up the apple logo
3. Unplug from the wall charger
4. Reconnect to your computer with the logo still on your screen
5. Now hold down the home and power button together until the apple sign goes away/screen shuts off
6. KEEP HOLDING DOWN THE HOME AND POWER BUTTON- the phone will retart itself and the apple logo will reapear
7. Let go of all the buttons- you will now have the apple logo on your screen and are still plugged into the computer. Now hold down the home button.
6. The "restore" will come up on Itunes, say yes to all and update!
