App store loading VERY slow or not at all

Hello.. I hope someone here can help me. Since i upgraded to ios 4 i have been having problems with the app store. It either takes 5 to 15 mins to load then another 5 to 15 mins to update or download an app or it doesn't load at all and kicks me back out to the main screen. seems to be only happening with app store. I have updated to the newest ios, done the soft reset, restored it in iTunes, changed my dns server and just about everything else i can think of as well as everything i have found on the internet. Any1 else having this problem or heard of it ? Or any1 know how i can fix it.

Thanks in advance for your help.

It's somewhat of a relief to know that I'm not the only one experiencing this in Singapore.

Interestingly enough, I tried downloading the same app on my iPad (using the same wifi connection) and it seems to be progressing fine. In fact, it just (roughly, since the iPad doesn't display precise d/l stats) overtook the downloads on my PC and iPhone, which have been running for hours. Something is definitely up here.

I'll keep retrying the downloads periodically (on my iPhone and PC). Hopefully everything will clear up at some point in the near future.

Its good to know that! 🙂 at least it is a relief for me that its not the problem with my iphone 🙂 It really slow when i use my PC as well 😟 sighh... hope that they are able to slove the problem 🙂 but sadly now i have another problem abt restoring my backup into my iphone 4S 😟 iTunes keep telling me that restoring failed because there is not enough space for the backup. However, I did managed to back up my phone before i decided to restore it to my last backup. And now my iphone is empty. Without any contacts or whatsoever. Wondering is there anyway to view my Iphone contacts through my PC so that i can manually input it in my iphone 😟 recently all these problems is driving me nuts espcially when i am working and i need those contacts 😟

There's an option to pull your contacts out of your SIM under "settings">"mail, contacts, calendar". If you have any contacts from the old days, they should reappear in your phone. The most recent ones are almost certainly gone unless you have them backed up on another computer (like at work or something).

It seems that Apple is trying to redefine the word "sync" to mean "delete". RTFM, yeah... I've owned the same car for six years and I don't think I've ever read the manual. This is just a phone. I reckon they really need to sort themselves out.

I think it's a combo of network connection and the App Store, but more on the App Store side. Some days updating or downloading from the App Store is fast, on a fast connection. Some days it's still not bad, on a slow connection. Then there are days when it's slow, and connection - whether wifi or 3G - is fast (everything else I do on my 4S that requires internet connection is pretty fast). Could it be that SIRI maybe playing a part in the slowdown? If they are on the same Apple servers, then it's plausible. Just a thought.

I am from Singapore and I have also been hit by exactly the same problem since a couple of days ago, be it updating an app on my ipad2 or iPhone4. Updating an app could take hours and sometimes simply just time out. I have never had such problem before, but situation just escalated to intolerable state. There is no issue with normal surfing or getting content update for news app. Clearly the problem is with Apple. But I am also aghast that this very problem has been reported by so many users since years ago and it still hitting us today. Looks like Apple is turning a blind eye on bad user experience, how complacent and arrogant they must have gotten themselves with. This is frustrating. Not sure if Android market place has the same issue, if not this might as well prompt me to switch to Android phone which I have been considering for sometimes.

Hi all, I'm experiencing the same problem in Singapore too since two days back. Initially I thought it has to do with my own wireless router. I did a speed test and other web activities. They are fine and it boils down to connection speed with Apple store.

Both new download and updating takes ages. I have to leave my iPad and iPhones charge and let it do the downloading background while I'm zzzz.

Is there a way to contact Apple tech support in Singapore? Or what's the customer service email. I can send the

a letter to ask them address the issues.

Indeed quite a pain to see downloading a 14MB app takes more than an hour.

Apple! Are you reading our thread? Please do something to it.

Thanks!

Thanks Lexxmexx.

I was not on Singnet as I'm in the UK - but I was getting exactly the same issue on a 3GS iOS5. Worked ok on Edge or 3G, but as soon as the phone was on wi-fi it just didn't connect properly.

Changing the DNS to include 8.8.8.8 worked - but what that tells me is somewhere globally there is a DNS issue as the root servers should make sure that the DNS is propgated out, if we have to select a specific server then there is a problem somewhere.

Cheers anyway and Merry Christmas!

My iPhone 4S, 64GB too was/is suffering from the same problem of excruciatingly slow download from App Store. I live in India and am using BSNL broadband WiFi. In fact i purchased "AllofWiki-Offline" from App Store today morning and started downloading it and even after about 12 hours the download status was 8.56% done.. @5-17 kbps whereas my broadband speed read 1.34 Mbps. But when i changed the DNS value to 8.8.8.8 as suggested by you in the WiFi settings of my iPhone, the download rate DRAMATICALLY INCREASED TO 150-200 KBPS.

So THANKS A LOT Lexxmexx for the magic solution. At this rate I am hoping the download will complete by tomorrow morning at least otherwise it was going to take months!!!

However, what i feel is that 150-200 kbps download rate from App Store against available 1-1.5 Mbps speed is still much below the reasonable speed or is it okey?. Could anyone please comment on it? Thanks in advance. (BBSi/SGQ-1B/US/GTK)
