XCode installation does not finish

The installer hangs for me, too (I am from Germany). Could well be a localization problem. But the installation did finish, Xcode works as far I can tell. This is from install.log:

So I guess I can use it.

I was having the same issue I paused the download for a minute then un-paused it and it went all the way with no problems. Try that it might help.

It's not the download, it's the installer that hangs.

BTW, I am from Austria with a German Snow Leo installation, too.

I fixed my machine it by moving back the contents from Developer-old to Developer and reinstalling iTunes. Now I can work with my iPhone and XCode 3.2 again.

Same issue here downloading from the US store, seems okay as far as I can tell though now that I killed the installer helper

Thank you, killing the helper finished the installation and XCode 4 works now!
However I needed to reinstall iTunes to get my iPhone sync working again.

If you update iTunes to 10.2.1, it should fix the problems with sync services in iTunes after an Xcode 4 install...at least that was my experience.

I had iTunes 10.2.1 installed before XCode 4 but the defective XCode installer (or killing the helper) leaves the sync services damaged.

I got the same Problem.
The opening package and installing with the Installer in the Res-Folder helped 4 me.

Thanks alot, this worked for me as a solution. For reference, I am in the US and had the same hanging install problem. Downloaded Xcode 4 from the App Store, and launched the install from the dock.

When this problem occurs, is the installer file already downloaded?

What happens to my is this: Is start downloading it reaches 691.7 GB, then it goes back 682 GB (approx.). It downloads to 691.7 GB, then goes back, and the cycle repeats till I get an error message. I have tried pause/resume, reboot, still doesn't work.

I suspected it was XCode 3 that caused trouble, but a friend had no trouble with this.

Finally managed to download the file. Had to dig out the installer tho to make it install properly.

I had the same issue. I was trying to install on to 10.6.6 and then 10.6.7 with the default language set to Japanese. In 3 instances it failed to complete. The resolution was to open the app package and launch the installer directly.

XCode 4.0.1 is out. In the release note it says, that the problem with the installtion should be fixed.

Installed with 4.0.1, broke refactoring 😟. Im trying to reinstall with the installer inside package contents
