XCode installation does not finish

I expect a Microsoft installer script to hang, of course, but not something Apple made.... What's going on here?

Just starting to learn how to make apps. Purchased XCode from app store and install froze at 95% --

Checked /Developer/Applications/ and found XCode app.

I believe its working, but still need to actually write an app.

Click on the LaunchPad icon (one with a rocket) in the spring board next to finder icon.

It would show that the Xcode 4.1 is still downloading or installing.

Be patient. It will work.

I get the same problem of xcode 4 from the mac app store gets stuck about 95% before finishing, But I get an annoying installation alert window (that has no way of getting rid of due to no close button or ok button) the alert says in order to continue installation, Please close the following application: Itunes..... I haven't even got itunes open... I have restarted my mac several times but still comes up with same error... I know i haven't got itunes open because i have the blue ball below any open apps.. anyone get the same problem?.

I managed to finally get my copy of xcode 4.1 purchased from mac app store to install.... I went into Applications/Utilities/activity monitor and selected " itunes helper " from the list of processes and clicked quit. The annoying installation alert window dissapeared also... why make windows you can't close?... hope this helps anyone that has had the same problem.

It fixed the install hang halfway through the install process, but not the hang at the very end. Installing Xcode 4.1 is still problematic.

I had the exact same problem:

XCode stopped installing, and complained that iTunes is still running

iTunes was not running, but after launching ActivityMonitor, I could see a process with iTunes in the name (some thing likes iTunesUpdate ) I force killed it and the Xcode installation finished.

Mac OS X 10.7 (Lion), Xcode 4.1

This above me worked! Very good observation on quitting iTunesHelper, that's all I did.

Ok, this is going to sound INSANE but I was having the same installation issues with it hanging and not finishing updating files. I attempted everything. Nothing worked. Then I got the brilliant idea that maybe it had something to do with Time Machine and older versions. I ejected my Time Machine Drive, shut down then restarted. Guess what, a clean, working install.

BTW, I have a Seagate Goflex Free Agent backup drive.

I have the same problem, I am from Germany and I have a MacBook. How can i install Xcode?

Hi leokapp, have a look at my comment above dated Jul 21, 2011 9:46 AM (kevinsharkey) and see if you have the same problem as me, if so, then it may help.
