Low battery life on iPod touch after installing iOS 4 (continued)

I have sent Apple 21 messages since July, 2010 and no response from them yet. Six different releases of ios 4.xx.xx have not fixed the quick battery drain problem.

Jason L, an Apple employee, continued this thread (see page one) from a battery thread of over 1500 posts and almost one-half a million viewers, so Apple does monitor these forums, but fails to offer any relevant solution to the user problems.

Apple needs to monitor the APPLE DISCUSSION FORUM as do other computer manufacturers (HP, DELL , Lenovo) with qualified employees and respond to users with helpful information to solve various problems. Yes, this is a "hospital" forum where those with problems show up, but the forum does not seem to have any doctors that can solve the quick battery drain problems - lots of workarounds to turn various ipod touch/iphone functions off, but no real solution has been developed in the software upgrades. Very, very disappointing - COME ON APPLE, STEP UP AND FIX IT.

I agree with you wholeheartedly, however I am not so optimistic that Apple will ever do anything about this. Like Anzac (see earlier post), I have replaced my iPod with an Android-based phone. Apple has permanently lost my business and it's my $300 loss.

I am not looking for a response from apple, but a software fix for the problems ios 4.xx.x have caused: short battery life, unable to synch, slow operation. The fix should be a ios that does not require functions to be turned off, as suggested in the prior thread and alsoin this one. Six different releases of ios 4.xx.xx have not fixed the quick battery drain problem.

Don't you think it is time for apple to fix this situaton before they loose too many more customers? Apparently Apple does not care about cusotmer satisfaction and repeat sales.

So 4.3.2. came out. Can anybody who has had battery/ram problems on the previous iOS's comment whether this iOS helped? I know it's a bit early.

No it doesn't and we have no obligation to purchase there products any longer.

The airplane mode fix works to a point, I tested it having it charged and then leaving it without charging for two days. During those two days I did not use, and my battery still went down to about almost half. And I haven't updated to the new iOS but already I am noticing that the airplane mode fix was only temporary because my battery is starting to drain.

You know, using my Ipod has become a stressful situation. I have to always double think about using it when I am not at home or somewhere away from an electrical outlet or computer. I have now even began to carry my charger to certain places in case I am going to need to recharge. Its ridiculous! And on top of that, the freaking Itunes issue with the songs constantly shuffling themselves, even after I disabled shake to shuffle. I can not listen to my songs in an order I want and it ****** me off to no end. Its gotten to the point where I now regret selling my Ipod Classic, because at least if I had that I could listen to my music and not worry about wasting valuable battery life so I can still use my apps (which is still very stupid and complicated reasoning).

Apple needs to freaking get a grip and do something about this crap because as it is, I don't think I'll be buying anything from them ever again.

Apple has an obligation to fix their software . It has now been SEvEN release and we still have the same short battery life :-((

Agreed. I have half a mind to actually call customer service to complain about this issue until their ears bleed.

I visited an apple store today and used an itouch 4.3ios--it got very hot in about 20 minutes. The genius said my hAnds were hot!

My iPods work just fine. Both 2nd and 4th generation models.

Sounds like you self inflicted your own problems...

Rather than rant, try posting a question of your own and maybe someone can help you.

What kind of self-inflicted problems could it possibly be, please do tell.

I don't know about everyone else, but I have used my Ipod in nothing but standard ways to use an Ipod Touch, meaning, nothing that could possibly void a warranty. Too many apps? They are all issued through the App store and they Ipod is supposed to be designed to run as many apps as you can fit within the space limitation. Same goes for videos and music.

Just like most people here, my Ipod was working absolutely fine for about 3 and a half to 4 months. At about this time my sister (who got her Itouch the same time I did) tells me that her battery seems to go down way too fast. When she told me this my Ipod battery was doing fine and so I thought it was strange hers was doing that, especially since she is VERY careful with things like that. Then next thing I know, from one day to the next, my ipod battery begins draining like crazy.

I dont know what kind of problem you think we caused on our Ipods ourselves, but I for one could not tell what I did since I was using it the way I had for the first 3 months. And you know what, if we want to rant, we are free to do so because, apparently no one seems to have an answer to this question, which has been posted alot before, and I for one can't stand seeing so many repeat thread about the same freaking thing.
