Macbook Pro 2011 Bootcamp Secondary Display

Hi,

First time getting a macbook. Great machine, but i still need windows. I setup bootcamp, and its worked great. Installed the macbook drivers and everything.

I picked up a minidisplay -> vga adapter and it works great in osx.

However, in windows i can not get the secondary display to work. I updated the drivers, still nothing. In the settings, i can see the secondary monitor, the brand of it and even the resolution of it. But nothing is on the screen.

I called apple, they referred me to microsoft, who referred me back to apple.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

2011 macbook pro, Mac OS X (10.6.6)

Hi All,

I finally managed to solve this issue with the projector and the MacBook Pro. It looks like there are two types of Mini DisplayPort connectors to VGA (active and passive) in which the "passive" type relies on software to convert the digital image to analog (this is where bootcamp fails) and the "active" type relies on hardware to convert the image therefore there is a special hardware inside these "active" connectors.

I went ahead and bought this one from DealExtreme (12.99 USD):

And it is working like a charm... Already conected my MacBook Pro 2011 to three different kind of analog projectors (while running Windows 7 on Bootcamp) and it just worked as it should have with the original connector from Apple the I bought first and was far more expensive BTW.

I got the VGA output working from my MBP

MBP Spec:

Model Name: MacBook Pro

Model Identifier: MacBookPro8,1

Processor Name: Intel Core i7

Processor Speed: 2.7 GHz

Number of Processors: 1

Total Number of Cores: 2

with Intel HD Graphics 3000:

Windows 7 Bootcamp, just did a windows update and installed the latest drivers available via the standard windows update. Checked it on a single dipslay then on a projection system with three projectors.

I got this <> problem today.

It work like a charm on OSX but suck on bootcamp.

I just fail an important report because of this. 4 years using Mac and this time it took me down :'(

After considered all possible solutions. I think a virtual machine is the least painful solution for work. Of course, you still must have bootcamp only for gaming. It turn my whole life so complicated...

I'm using a MacBook Pro 15" Late 2011 with the AMD Raedon HD 6750M graphics card along with the Intel HD Graphics 3000. In BootCamp, Windows 7 only recognizes the AMD display adapter and not the Intel 3000. I've downloaded the latest drivers, but I still can't connect to an external monitor with a regular VGA adapter.

Has anyone found AMD drivers that work with a VGA adapter? Or is there some way that I can use the Intel graphics card instead?

I'm in the process of getting the StarTech adapter, but if there's a way that I can just get the right drivers, that would be nice.

btw, I don't recommend the adapter from DealExtreme. It didn't work for me. Maybe they just have bad quality control. I tried it, and not only was the external monitor screen still blank when I was using Windows via BootCamp, but when I was in Lion, the screen flickered and blanked out intermittently. Bad adapter, cheaply made. I'm waiting to receive the StarTech adapter, so hopefully it'll work.

Yes! The StarTech adapter works!! http://www.amazon.com/StarTech-com-MDP2VGA-DisplayPort-Adapter-Converter/dp/B003 1SEMBQ/ref=sr_1_9?ie=UTF8&qid=1326166979&sr=8-9

I'm sure the Cirago adapter works, too, but I got the StarTech one because it was less expensive.

I'm so glad I can finally use both operating systems on my monitor now!! The issue was rather annoying.

It seems to be the driver. You probably already got your answer but i tried everything to get this working. It only worked on some items, mostly new things but when I went to use an old projector it didnt work. I used this tool from inten and it spat out an update and it worked.
