Ok heres mine and a friends iPad 2 next to each other. Mine is DRASTICALLY YELLOWER TINT overall.. i have a SLIGHT very SLIGHT bleeding issue but no where near as bad as many peoples.
Now what i have is a COMPLETE yellow tint throughout the entire screen
Has anyone encountered this, and does it go away in a couple days?
on the white one my friend still has the little protector film around it, because its a gift for someone, but still.. mine is noticeably yellower, even when we temporarily removed the film.
Hmm... That background is also yellow instead of blue on my iPad 2. I checked for light leakage a few nights ago and again last night. The first time I checked it, it was bad. All four corners and almost the entire left side. Now, just 2 corners and the left side leakage is fading. Maybe there's some relation? Have you tested yours for light leaks?
As far as returning or exchanging my iPad for a new one, I don't plan on it... Yet.
just went back to the Apple Store, got it replaced,
- the previous one had the yellow tint pictured, and several VERY SMALL light bleeds. No major ones (my friend has major light bleed issue).
- the new ipad 2 I received today, Still has Yellow tint, and now this one has more Screen Bleed issues
I HAVE ABSOLUTELY NO IDEA WHAT TO DO. I'm seriously getting fed up with this. If you push down a little on the outer bezel area near a screen bleed, it gets bigger!! *so this indicates that there is Pressure between the Outer Glass and the LCD, with the glue squeezed between the LCD and Glass.*
- Does ANYONE know what I should do? This is ******* me off, the iPad 2 is really amazing, dont get me wrong, I'm in love with it, but compared to other iPad 2s and floor models, mine is very Warm Color(Yellow Tinted) and not to mention ALL 4 iPad 2's having this Screen Bleed issue!
Sorry to hear your having troubles. I deal with this type of problem every time I get a new device. Not just from apple but from canon, samsung, etc. the yellow screen thing is something I have seen on every model of iPhone and iPad.
I currently have to iPad 2's they each have different issues. One has a slightly yellow screen, a dead pixel and very very little backlight bleed through.
The other has a less yellow screen, closer to my calibrated MacBook Pro but slightly more yellow. And more noticeable but not considerable backlight bleed. I like this one better.
My iPhone 4 has a bluer than my MacBook Pro display which looks cool when compared to every other device that I own.
My wifes iPhone is closer in color to the cooler of the 2 iPads (slightly more yellow than my iPhone).
I like the look of her iPhone better.
I also have a Dell monitor. Which looks like crap, backlight bleed and crummy color, can't seem to get the calibration right, it always looks yellow. And I have a samsung HDTV with bleed, not bad, worse than the iPads, but livable.
My point is this. If you are unhappy, bring it back, bring it back over and over until you get one you like.
These devices are built to allow for a certain level of tolerance. They are all different and as long as they fall within their spec, as far as Apple is concerned there's nothing wrong with any of these devices. Until Apple allows you to manually color calibrate your display a slight variation in color is part of there design. LCD tech is crazy, dead pixels are present in a huge percent of the panels, they try to cut around them but to a point. Back light beed though is mainly the result of pressure on the LCD, the iPad 2, by design is frigging thin so pressure is more likely.
But, in the end of they day, you paid for it, it's not cheap. Go back and get another if you don't like the one you have. You might still get one with variations that don't suit your taste, or don't match your other devices.
Just remember at some point your going to have to compromise, I don't think the "perfect" exists.
I have the EXACT same issue. My son's 32gb screen is what I would call normal. Mine (64gb) has a more noticeable overall yellowish hue. My son's screen is definitely on the white/bluish-white spectrum and mine is more towards the yellowish spectrum. Not happy! My wife's 64gb is also yellowish in comparison, too.
iPhone 4 had the same experience...it was a chemical cleaning agent that was used on the screen at the factory that had not fully evaporated yet...the tint should decrease over the course of a month or so...
