Entire iPAD 2 Yellow Tint! Photo Included!!

Ok heres mine and a friends iPad 2 next to each other. Mine is DRASTICALLY YELLOWER TINT overall.. i have a SLIGHT very SLIGHT bleeding issue but no where near as bad as many peoples.
Now what i have is a COMPLETE yellow tint throughout the entire screen

Has anyone encountered this, and does it go away in a couple days?

Look at the picture in the link below!

this is not screen bleed issue, this is an entire YELLOW TINT of the screen.

Recently I was comparing two iPads 2:

16GB Wifi (black) and 16GB WiFi+3G (black). The differences are quite big.

WiFi+3G has definitely yellow tint = warmer colors, but no clear white color

WiFi - blue tint = cool colors, very clear white and excellent brightness

I would say 40% of brightness of WiFi = 60% brightness of WiFi+3G

So it all depends on personal comfortability. I prefer cool colors, but then my eyes are getting tired very quickly.

I think that, when you don't have another device (to compare) nearby, this shouldn't be an issue.

BTW this is the same story as with iPhone 3GS. The same models, but displays from two different suppliers.

I found this posting via search, as my new iPad2 64gb Wi-Fi also has a yellowish screen. I noticed immediately on switch on as I already own a 32gb that I'm upgrading from, and that has a blueish, clearer, brighter display. Putting them side by side at full brightness is the best way to see the difference, and I decided I wouldn't live with it and called Apple.

They didn't acknowledge a known issue, nor wanted to comment on any of these forum postings (there are a couple of similar ones to this) which describe the issue exactly.

They were very helpful though, and when I bleated that I didn't want my sub-24 hours old one replaced out of their refurb stock, they transferred me to another department and they agreed to send a new retail box out.

I may even have chance to compare all 3 side by side before the courier collects my dodgy one, and the guy said he thought there was less than a 1% chance of me experiencing the same issue again.

Hmmm... I don't know about that. Unless he has the means to select "Blue stock", and just didn't want to admit anything to the public that Apple know they have an issue here.

All in all I was very pleased with their polite attitude, but I did feel like I was explaining a fault to their ears for the very first time, and I would have prefered them to acknowledge it.

I'll post my results here in a few days.

Well I have my received my 64gb replacement, and the results are that I'm still disappointed.

It's actually a bit of an improvement on the yellow 64, but it's still a tad dull and not at all bright & blue like my 32.

Was it worth the replacement... well yes I think so. I definitely don't like the dullest one, and this new one is half way between the two.

Will I go back to Apple again?... I am not sure yet as I think there's more like a 1% chance of me getting a blue one next time.... I was just lucky with the 32 I guess.

I had a similar experience, but at the store. My replacement 32 is much better than my original, but it's still from the "yellow stock" and not the "blue one". I actually prefer the yellow, though, and now that it's not distractingly yellow I'm happy with it.

iPad's are not cheap and apple has a great exchange policy - so if you don't like your screen, don't live with it. There are various degrees of screen colors out there ( my brother's bought the same day as mine is blue ), and might as well go through the trouble to get the one you want.

Like someone said. If you don't have anything to compare it with, your eyes will get used to whatever you have. I work with calibrated computers, so I couldn't live with something so off. Now I don't fall off my chair every time I switch from looking at my computer to reading something on the iPad.

I did stick with the replacement, and I'm now completely used to it... So as not to upset myself I try not to look at my old blue 32gb as that is now my wife's toy.

What I thought was that I was bound to want the iPad 3 when it came out (and I am going to call it that), but there's now reports that the 3 suffers from yellow screens too.... In fact a photographer said that a photo of oranges looked more like lemons on it.

Well that's a no-no for me.... I also don't like the heat they produce. I've handled one in the Apple store and I was shocked. Lovely screen admittedly (and in the lights of the shop I admit I didn't detect a yellow-ness), but that heat!... wow!

Anyway, The iPad2 64 is still going strong, and I was also hoping for a 128gb option too, and that's not the case, and also the UK prices are grossly unfair compared to our UK cousins.... so the 3's realease was all a damp squib to me and I'm waiting for iPad 4 (or should I say the new-new iPad).

WSR, really appreciate your continued posting on your experiences! It's helpful to us all-- and your post was, too, apixel.

Our two iPhone 4s come from the two different universes... as long as my wife and I have gotten the ones we're comfortable with, all is OK with the world!

But if you're used to the cool-blue, as I was with an iPod Touch, the yellow-white or cream colored one took some getting used to--and I finally decided to get a cool-blue one. It's too bad to hear that some of the iPad 2s were also cream colored like the new iPads... I was tempted to get one of iPad 2s rather than the new iPad for several reasons, one being a greater likelihood of getting a cool-blue screen!
