10.6.7 Freezes when attempting to run iTunes 10.2.1

I have just updated to 10.6.7 all Apps (e.g. Mail, Safari, Parallels) tried so far work fine except iTunes. Every time I run iTunes 10.2.1 I get as far as the window displaying correctly then within 20secs the machine freezes and is unresponsive to anything other than a forced shutdown via the power button. I have fixed disk permissions with the same result.

Anyone else experiencing the same? Any suggestions as to a fix?

MacBook Air, Other OS, iTunes 10.2.1

I've tried absolutely every "remedy" suggested in this thread - NO LOVE!
I did some testing and found that I can open Itunes and the system clock will run indefinitely UNTIL I touch the trackpad, then immediate system-wide freeze (clock stops). If I open Itunes and touch the trackpad immediately after app load I have about 15-20 seconds then system-wide freeze. It appears to be linked to mouse/trackpad input.
I have reproduced this 5 times now and with one test was able to go 10 minutes without a crash(that is all the patience I have) and then immediate freeze once i touched the trackpad. This also occurs when touching my bluetooth external trackpad. Interesting...

on my machine - Mac Book Air 13" 2GB 2010 os:x10.6.7 it:10.2.1 + iphone4 ios4.3 - i solved this issue simply removing the file:
"iTunes Library Genius.itdb" located in /myaccount/Music/iTunes folder
after that without opening iTunes, i repaired permissions and rebooted my mac.

Anyway this issue is iTunes-only related, iLife apps works as usual, the same for Adobe's or anything graphic/audio.

As noted before I have tried all the remedies to no avail... I called applecare this afternoon and worked with level 1 tech then level 2 tech for 90 minutes. They suggested all the fixes offered up in this forum and some others including running a 30 min long hardware check. Nothing is working to resolve this issue. When I say working I mean an actual long term fix. The only suggestion left was to wipe my drive and reinstall the OS from the USB restore stick which came with the MacBook Air. They would not guarantee this would resolve the issue. My hardware test did not reveal any hardware flaws with my machine. I think they currently do not have a solution at the tech level... They admitted that this is a serious bug because it takes down the entire OS. As part of the process we created a brand new user account and installed a clean version of itunes...still get the deep freeze! Ughhhhh

I also called Apple and relayed this issue and the fixes that people are currently recommending on this forum, and they said they haven't heard about this but the guy I talked to said he'll pass it on the higher ups. He also told me to fill out info at apple.com/feedback, and hopefully they will have a fix, so I recommend if everyone can to fill out the form there. This really *****, but hopefully they can fix this soon

Hi there, I also got the same problem though just this morning, while I finished my App Store downloading and quitted it, all things on the screen froze right there. Since I got this problem just after closing App Store, having upgraded to OS 10.6.7 yesterday, I was like trying to restart my Air, App Store, and then the iTunes. Somehow, it does work now, I mean working pretty well right now. I don't know what happened exactly before I saw this post, things like to do with the account files?
Anyways, running App Store then iTunes seems work as well. Try it out.

I have been having the same problem on an 11" Air. iTunes cannot play an SD video podcast without stuttering and randomly freezing. Other issues are general UI slowdowns and all animations stutter.

Also this may be because OpenGL Graphics Scores in XBench have gone from

OpenGL Graphics Test 104.46
Spinning Squares 104.46 132.52 frames/sec

under 10.6.6

to

OpenGL Graphics Test 71.73
Spinning Squares 71.73 91.00 frames/sec

Under 10.6.7
