iPhone 4 heat and battery issues

My iPhone 4 for the last few days has started to get very hot in use and the battery is gone very bad. Leaving the phone on standby can see the battery drain nearly 20% in an hour. This is gone to the stage where I have to turn it off at times just to save battery during the day. It only began to happen when I updated to iOS 4.3. I updated to iOS 4.3.1 yesterday and it still has the same issues. Anyone else having the same problem?

Well, the external battery helps, but I want to read on my iPhone and am afraid it will run down too fast. I may use the 4S only as a phone and go back to my 3GS for reading and games. The problem is definitely Siri, which is also in beta format right now. But I haven't used Siri, so maybe there's stuff running in the background that I don't know about.I have an iPad,but it's a little heavy if you want to read in bed, which is mostly where I do my reading. I haven't had the problem of the phone overheating, but that's probably because I don't use it much. I should probably do more with it and see how it goes. I subscribe to Macworld. Maybe I'll contact them and see what they have to say.

Hello guys i have C3 serial with 9a405 only thing i did not try was factory reset, all other solutions are fail for me "mail accounts, siri, location services even turning off cellular data". I have %50 phantom usage %7 battery drop per hour on standby.
I notice some strange behavior; when i reset my phone settings to defaults battery indicator went up several percent for example %97 to %99 and it will be fine for half a day then i start to use some apps, it will back on fast drain again. "turning on-off wifi or location services does not make any differance" phantom usage is about %50 all the time after several hours of usage or battery drops under %60-%50 percent some how usage statistics returns to normal and i get %7 drop for all night.
My old iphone 4 with same apps and usage has no battery issues at all, i can walk with her for 7.5 hours with nike+gps and music on all the time.

So is this really a production fault?? which apple keep us busy waiting for unworking patch? i do not want to belive this. My friend who lives in Bulgaria had the same problem, now he says 'after replacement' he can use his phone at least 2 days but an another friend changed his phone two times in England without success. I want to belive it is a dumb software bug. Apple please raise the wages of ios software engineers..

I took my phone to the apple store and they happily replaced it. My new phone is currently hot as an oven and the battery is draining so fast that while plugged in it won't add a charge.

Also I'm pleased to report the NEW phone given to me has extreme crackling coming from the receiver when on phone calls.

What an absolute disaster. I am not happy.

I've had my iPhone 4 for over a year now and in the last month when I run two specific features/apps, Waze and personal hotspot, the phone heats up. When I run anything else, it stays cool. Is there a particular reason why this would happen with this feature and app?

I've done a factory reset and have left it off for a few hours to see if the problem would go away, it hasn't. Any help would be appreciated before I go to the Apple store.
