Duplicate iPhoto events in iPhone/iPad sync

I'm getting duplicate iPhoto events showing up when I try to sync my iPhone and/or iPad. These events are not in duplicate in iPhoto itself. I have tried repairing the iPhoto database and it's file permissions. I have no idea why iTunes reads these events like so (see included screen shot). Any help would be appreciated; thanks in advance.

update: have spoken with 2 different apple representatives one with iphone support one with mac support and explained the issue. they both stated that as of now that seems to be the best way to correct the issue. the mac support representative is escalating the issue to his senior techs and development so hopefully there will be an update coming soon.

Confusion reigns...

Sorry about this because it's going to muddy things, but figured I would pass it along anyway.

Apple engineering just called and advised AGAINST reverting to a previous version of the App unless you also reverted the entire library at the same time or did a manual rebuild of the entire library after reversion.

They did say that they are well aware of the problem and are investigating a fix. No time frame was provided for when the fix would be forthcoming...believe me, I asked!

Wish I had better news....looks like I'll be sticking with the mess I have for the time being.

@ed3vlin, rwross,

Typical of Apple, I'm tempted to say. Two Apple support reps tell ed3vlin that restoring 9.1.1 from Time Machine seems to be the best work around, while Apple Engineering warns against this, unless one rebuilds the iPhoto library!

After reading ed3vlin's "all clear" I restored 9.1.1 from Time Machine and synchronized my iPhone and iPad. After reading rwross' contribution I rebuilt the iPhoto library "just to be sure" (because everything seemed to be OK, as others who have restored 9.1.1 report), only to have the places assigned to my photos -- I can't say whether all or only the ones I randomly sampled -- disappear! A pin appears on the tiny map, but instead of a place name the prompt to specify a place appears. So now I'm restoring the version of the iPhoto library that was current as of iPhoto 9.1.1 and crossing my fingers. If everything goes well, I'll only have to redo a few things. And, if not, I guess I'll have to redo the 9.1.2 update and restore the version the the iPhoto library that was current before I restored 9.1.1.

This is really absurd.
