Duplicate iPhoto events in iPhone/iPad sync

Same problem here. Annoying !!!! Got so much duplicates and it's from the events I merged.. Hopefully Apple will fix it quickly

I may have found an easier temporary solution until Apple comes out with a fix.

If you see your events in iTunes duplicating. Go to your iPhoto, click on View>Sort Photos>Reset Manual Sort then View>Sort Photos> (then check your preferred sorting).

I have been trying this out for two days already and it seems to be working.

Here's my workflow: I open my iPhoto, then open iTunes, sync my photos from the iPhone camera roll to iPhoto, then do the workaround.

Works for me for the moment. (fingers crossed)

Earlier in the thread I reverted to iPhoto 9.1.1 but like a dog with a slipper I couldn't let go and re-updated to 9.1.2 to see whether I could figure out a solution - I failed dismally 😟.

Hopefully this 'fix' will stick - I've just done two re-syncs to test it and it's all good.

I'm trying this but when I can't choose Reset Manual Sort because that option is "grey" not black. I.e. it can't be clicked on...

anyone know why this is happening?

Just choose any option and then rest manual sort will not be grey anymore .

This option definitely works and thank you. However I think when you disconnect your iphone/ipad from your computer the next time you plug it back in, it will then revert back to the old ways of duplicating events. So I think you must do this fix everytime in iphoto before you sync again. Please let me know if anyone else is seeing this as well.

In my case this only works, when I sort by date or name. When ever I sort my events manually in iPhoto, everything is messed up again in iTunes.

But this definitely is a valuable option until Apple comes by with a fix. Thank u jpatrickn.

For my fellow TV users...not as much joy. Since your TV sort of acts like a always connected dumbed down iPhone, you may find yourself having to run back to whatever Mac you have connected to it and running this workaround when you want to access your photos.

Far from ideal...but better than where things stood yesterday.

My disappointment in Apple grows as the silence and lack of fix continue.

I have the very same problem. When is Apple going to do something about it? Events is the best way to organize photos and now we can't rely on that :-(

1. Plug in iDevice

2. Launch iPhoto and iTunes

3. In iPhoto, View>Sort Events>By Title + Ascending

4. In iTunes, in iDevice page, go to App tab, then Photo tab

5. Events in photos should now be arranged properly by Title

If you prefer to sort by Date:

6. Back in iPhoto, View>Sort Events>By Date + Ascending

7. In iTunes, in iDevice page, go to App tab, then Photo tab

8. Back in iTunes, in iDevice page, go to App tab, then Photo tab

9. Events in photos should now be arranged properly by Date

According to dcbez, it is not a permanent fix.

Hopefully the real fix from Apple is coming soon!
