HBO to go will not play video only audio on my apple tv

I think I'm closer to getting it but now I'm getting the message: "AirPlay Speaker Not Available" and below: The speaker "Apple TV" is currently being used by someone else.

Anyone know what this is about?

Because I can stop paying monthly for a cable box and just get an apple tv. This is exactly what I did but am sorely disappointed I cannot stream or get hbo on my apple tv. Have to rent a box again. Another win for the cable companies. Maybe this is a big reason why were not seeing the apps for apple tv iOS.

I tried it but it looks like it only works for websites used with Safari. HBO Go is its own app and there doesn't seem to be anyway to follow the directions given by leimobile.

Because HBO Satellite does not carry HBO "On Demand" HBO GO "Does".

I think they won't let you AirPlay it simply because it's called hbo "GO"...as in portable and on the go! It's the also the only way they can prevent people from watching hbo shows on another tv without paying for actual hbo cable channels. I use my brothers hbo account and watch it on MY iPad without even having hbo channels at home. But it won't let two devices watch simultaneously.

Chenks is absolutely correct. Just check your HBO GO app. Click the gear "settings" in the upper right corner; then help; finally technical. There you'll see an FAQ about AirPlay. Here's what it says:

HBO requires a level of content protection that is not currently supported by Airplay/Apple TV. We hope to offer this capability in the future.

I would like to suggest a thought. Since apple claims that with AirPlay you can view anything on your iPad on your apple tv using AirPlay, and apple has to approve every app they sell that goes on the iPad, then they should remove the Hbo go App until it conforms to their standards...

It's more a matter of licensing agreements

I pay for DirecTV, I pay for HBO and I paid for a new ATV assuming AirPlay would work. It doesn't and I'm really fumed. Streaming video to a display device has nothing to do with content security. The latest ATV doesn't even store data locally. The previous generations had a hard drive but didn't support AirPlay. So, someone help me, where's the security leak? This is a bunch of crap. I suppose the only thing we can do is berate the HBOGO app, as someone mentioned.

An iPhone, for example, can fit in your pocket and you can then use it at someone else's place via airplay. The developers are the one's making the decision so you need to contact them.
