iPhone 4 Replacement Help

I have a black iPhone 4 and i have some problems with it so i rang apple and they said that they are hardware problems and to take it to a apple store and they should replace it. I just wanted to know if i will get a brand new replacement becuase my problems are MAJOR, and if they will replace my black iPhone with a white one? Has anyone done this with the iphone 4 or a previous iPhone?

Thanks,

I purchased a brand new Iphone 4S in India, Banglore. Within two weeks of time I had to visit Imagine. There were lot of problems with the phone. I got the phone repalaced in two days. I enquired 1000 times with apple guys, f the phone s new or refurbished. I was told its a brand new. But after reading all this im pretty sure I got a refurbished one 😟 😟 😟. I asked them, why cant they give me a phone from Apple store??? and i got thousands of idiotic replies. Even they wer not able to convince me. Man!!! I was so crazy abt this Iphone 4S. My all dreams shattered of being a owner of Brand new Iphone 4S.

Im using a refurbished phone in 45K INR.

Moreovr when i checked the replaced phone :

In Settings-->General-->Usage-->Cellular Usage-->Lifetime--> More than 17 Hours (Amazing)

Its only been hours I got this phone.....

What shall I do?????????????????

Can anyne assist me...

I reckon take it to the apple store and tell them about the 17 hours of usage and that you've only used the phone for a couple of hours. Tell them you were told this phone was brand new and lied to by apple employees. Demand a brand new phones as you paid for a brand new phone that was faulty. Make sure your replacement is a brand new iPhone 4s in a BRAND NEW SEALED BOX. If they want to replace with a phone out of the black box, speak to the manager.

I hope this helped.

Best of luck.

I asked imagine executives for a brand new iPhone with sealed box. But they denied to provide me the same. I was told that replaced iPhones doesn't come in sealed box. Well I have register a complaint with apple customer care India. Regarding the usage part, I read somewhere, it may happen because I took back up of the previous I phone. Don't know whether it's true or not. Let's see Wat happens. But my strong belief in apple has gone. I'm using a refurbished handset with the coast of brand new. If it wide have been 2-3 months, I would hav. Never complaint , but it's only a week!!'

No offense, but just because you feel like you can get royalty treatment because of a defective product, doesn't mean you'll get it!

Honestly, if you think you can just get a brand new iPhone, read the fine print and the Applecare Limited 1 year warranty. It's not a Product Replacement Plan. They didn't hire lawyers for nothing you know. Apple is covering their *** so people like you can't get a brand new one after 30 days.

If it's within 30 days of you buying the phone, yes I could see you getting a new phone. But if it's older than that, it'll be repaired or replaced with a refurbished model. The only way you could get a new one is something called a lemon law (which is something like taking in your product up to 4 times for repairs on different incidents), and even then I don't think they have one.

Refurbished phones are just as good as new ones. Put up with it, or stay with your defective iPhone. Refurbished is better than getting nothing at all.

I just sent in my 6 month old iPhone to apple, because of a screen defect. Now watch me demand a brand new iPhone instead of a refurbished model. Apple will laugh at me. Why? It's a 6 month old phone, **** happens to technology ALL THE TIME. It's not going to be perfect. You are always going to get one or two rotten apples out of a good batch, so why complain when they offer to FIX the problem? That's their job, and they have to follow company policy. No matter how much you ***** and compalin, it's not going to change. It's not like the Apple executives are going to be watching this thread and make changes because of one person.

Turn your listening ears on, because it's taking everyone a couple dozen posts to make it clear to you that what you want is unrealistic, and I agree with them 100%.

Hi everyone,

I'm also having the same problems with my iPhone 4.

I dropped my iPhone 3-4 months ago, and since I got it repaired, it has not been the same.
The Vibration isn't working to well, my home screen button does not work properly. I have too press it 2-3 times before it actually works, my sound is on maximum volume, yet the sound is not as loud as it use to be, and lastly the top button (sleep/wake button) has recently stuffed up on me. It looks like its kind of jammed in and its the same problem with the home screen button .. i have to press it 2-3 times before it actually works.

My question is, will i be able to swap this over for a new iPhone or not?

I heard you can pay $150 if the phone is faulty, and they give you a brand new one. Is this true?

Thanks guys.

I am also interested in this 150 dollars for a replacement phone, if anyone knows anything more about it? My iPhone 4 is more than a year old and therefore out of warranty. Recently the sleep button went on me and no longer works, purely as a result of normal use or, I'm guessing, a hardware defect. I am interested in going up to my local apple store but I don't know whether this service is offered in the UK or not and how much the replacement phone would cost in pounds?

I just bough a iphone 4s brand new on the 8th and cameout faulty. I took it back to the AT&T store to exchange it and they didn't had any instock so they send me to apple. So I when to apple and they were going to exchange for f***** refurbish one So I said no I pay full price for this not 150. I when back to the AT&T store and I'm still waiting for my phone. So baware if you pay full price and your under your 30 don't take refurblished from apple they'll tell is new but there not them phone are nothing but a big headache you'll be going to apple sooner than u thing to replace it agoing If you want refurblished iPhone go online and pay 150.

So you got a new one that didn't work correctly and you want another new one?

Note that an f***** refurbished one is most likely going to be better quality than a new one.

It has already been through the regular factory build, checks and quality assurance tests.

Then it was used by a consumer.

It was returned and restored (new case and battery), ran through extensive testing and quality assurance and (again) ran through same quality assurance tests as a new iPhone.

And it carries the same warranty as a new one.

Wish I could get a free phone too... Just because others are.

Now how childish does that sound? Ppl need to understand. TECHNICALLY if Apple repairs your phone it is now 'refurbished'. Except they won't fix your mistreatment of your phone, they will only fix manufacturing defects. In other words: if you aren't nice to your phone, Apple is not just going to give you a brand new one.

And? It's just WRONG to use a product for MONTHS and expect to return it for a new one because 'it doesn't work right'. How many devices or things in your house are you able to do that with? If I drive my new car for 6 months can I take it back and get a new one free of charge because I didn't take care of it properly? NO.
