Installing XP on new iMac(2011)?

I see the file but when I point it and press the OK button it gives me the same error message before finishing the installer:

"Cannot install this hardware

There was a problem installing this hardware:

Cirrus Logic CS4206A (AB 32)

An error occured during the installation of the device

The parameter is incorrect."

I'm doing it exactly like you said... what should I do?

Is there a way to reset the process? And try starting over?

please try to download and install this driver (click "agree" at the bottom).

if it works, i'll update my archive with this driver.

For the imac 2011 21.5", the drivers are certainly different.
You can try. It may work for some hardware.

For the knowledge:

- Bootcamp 3.0 + 3.1 + 3.2 provide XP / VISTA / 7 (?) drivers for every imac With Core2 Duo / Quad processors (before 2010)
- Bootcamp 4 provides 7 drivers only.

Unfortunately i don't have any 21.5" 2011 imac to look for drivers.

under Lion, if you can provide the name and tech info of every hardware that is not installed under XP, i may be able to help you... (read the current thread to get more informations)

you need both Lion hardware description (apple > about this mac > more information)

First thing, install Bootcamp 3.0 and updates 3.1 and 3.2

After, from what i can see, you may try to install some drivers from my archive:

- chipset sandy bridge (dble click on infinst_autol.exe)
- facetime camera HD: Try manual install by pointing to the directory (i'm pretty sure it's the same hardware).

- the audio may install also fine...

- the hdmi audio is part of the graphics card and whould also install. Try manual install by pointing to the directory.

also you could try manual install on the LAN and WLAN adapters ("ethernet" and "controller di rete")

After that, the idea is to try every unknown hardware with every driver remaininig : right click > update pilot > choose by yourself > browse and point to each driver directory. If XP recognizes a compatible driver, it will install it.

Once you have tried every hardware remaining with every driver remaining,

- tell me what's remaining

- please click on "resoconto di sistema" under LION and paste the informations here.

We need more info about your hardware (graphics card, etc).

Ok, but i can't find bootcamp 3.0. I only found the 3.1 and 3.2 update. I read in the other discussions that it's in the snow leopard DVD, but when i mount it, windowsxp tell me that windows 7 is required to install bootcamp.

Is bootcamp 3 and 3.1 and 3.2 necessary? The only peripherals that i need is:

chipset

audio system (what's is HDMI audio? It works in winxp? 😕)

VGA system

LAN

The other peripherals are not necessary for me:

bluetooth

facetime HD

Wi-fi

Yesterday i sucessfully installed chipset and LAN. After that I'm stopped because i couldn't install the audio system. I think that the PCI-Device that you see in this picture http://i42.tinypic.com/282qmn4.jpg is the audio system.

You can get Bootcamp 3.0 on the OSX 10.6 CD.

in XP hardware panel, choose properties on each hardware you miss, go to "details" and give me the VEN_ DEV_ and SUBSYS_ informations.

Something like : VEN_8086&DEV_27A2&SUBSYS_820710

I used your drivers and didn't have any issues except for the VGA. I tried to force the drivers in XP but get a message that it "Cannot Install this Hardware" I have the same Radeon Graphics adapter as you do (Radeon HD 6770M. I have also downloaded the Catalyst software (version 12.3) from AMD and tried to force the drivers but still cannot get it to work.

Is there something I'm missing or doing incorrectly? I know BootCamp doesn't support XP, but I'm so close to getting everything working. Thanks for all the posts, they have helped tremendously.

EDIT : sorry i made a mistake. You may have a 6770M OR a 6970M depending on your mac version...

You have a Radeon HD 6970M, or a 6770M... depending on your imac version

Try again to force the driver install, and in the driver list, you must choose the most common hardware fitting your 6790M or 6990M: something like "Radeon HD 6700 series" or "Radeon HD 6900 series" ( not a particular brand or model). You may get XP warnings, just click OK and finish the install. Then Reboot.

NOTE : If windows don't show you a driver list, this is because you don't choose to install a driver by yourself (please read page #2 reply #3 of this thread here)
