redsohigh's recommendation to change the iPhone DNS servers for the wifi connection worked for me. It also fixed wifi on my son's MacBook. I used my DSL router and Google's public DNS, 8.8.8.8, instead of the two DNS servers he recommended, but same idea. Written up here: https://billstclair.com/blog/ios_433_wifi_problems.html

I have an Airport Extreme wifi router. Downgrading the firmware there might also have fixed the problem, but I didn't try that, it being much simpler to change the DNS on the iPhone.

I had no problems for over a year, and then after upgrading to 4.3.2 boom I was having the same problems of being unable to connect to wifi on the iphone at home (other devices worked fine). I upgraded to 4.3.3 but it continued & then I thought I would try online for help!

My iphone was showing it was connected in the settings page, but not in the top left of the home screen, and if I tried to update apps etc it could tell me to connect to wifi.

I tried all of the solutions suggested by others here, except updating firmware because I had no idea how to do that!

I have at last (fingers crossed it continues) managed to solve the problem using a combination of the suggestions here. I will list what I did in the order I did it, just incase it helps anyone else. (Apologies in advance Im no computer expert!!)

1. Settings > WiFi > clicked on my network > Forget this network

2. Settings > WiFi > Ask to join networks > OFF

3. Settings > WiFi> OFF

4. Unplugged my router for over 30 minutes I had tried spells of ten minutes etc before with no luck

5. Switched router back on waited 5 minutes

6. Settings > WiFi > ON

7. Settings > WiFi > clicked on my network > enter router password

As I say I tried other things that worked for others and it didn't help me, but this worked for me & it may help someone else.

Add one more with iPhone 4.3.3 WiFi issues. I run a big wireless network at a university. All industrial strength Cisco stuff. iPhone 4s seem to have an issue connecting to a new SSID. I just created a new network for a snack shop that is 100% open, zero security. Several laptops tested the connection - all fine, no issues. Tested with an HP Slate - no problem. My iPhone can connnect to our WPA2 Enterprise network just fine, also to the existing "open" WiFi with a web portal login. Note - neither of those networks have WMM turned on. (RE: TS3727) Lots of iPhones and iPads on campus, all connect to existing networks just fine. My iPhone 4 (new like 3 weeks) would not connect to the new open wifi. Allowing WMM on that SSID didn't make any difference to the iPhone. After turning off Cellular Data and repeatedly telling the phone to connect, it finally did. Turned cell data on, forgot network, phone reconnected right away. Wife works down the hall - her older iPhone 4 connected to the new open wifi network on the first try. Her version is 4.3.3. Go figure.

This is essentially my issue as well. I had an iPhone 4 that worked since the very first day it came out to every single wifi network I told it to. I was having issues with my original device deleting my call logs & text messages, so I went to the Apple store. The genius ended up saying that the backup probably had an error & gave me a new phone. Ever since I have had the new phone I cannot connect to a WiFi network. If I ever manage to connect I end up connecting long enough to load 1 web page in about 15 seconds; that is it. I even tried billstclair' s method above with no results.

I had the same problem after moving. My Belkin worked great at my previous address for both my laptop and my Iphone 4 but then after moving it only worked for my laptop...after talking to Belkin tech support they helped me fix the issue. The issue was that my modem was bypassing my router, this is what I was told to do; Switch OFF the modem and disconnect it from the network. - Connect the computer to the "LAN" port on the router. - Take a paper clip, insert the paper clip in the reset hole of the router and hold it for 60 seconds. - The power light will flash and then come back "ON" solid, indicating that the router is being restored to factory defaults. - The corresponding lights on the front of the router should be lit up. - Log on to the router web interface by typing in http://192.168.2.1, in the address bar of your browser. - Connect the modem to the Modem port on the router. - By default, the password is blank. - Click on "Connection Type" in the left hand column under "Internet WAN" heading. - Choose "Dynamic" and then click on "Next". - Type in your “Host Name”, if your Internet Service Provider has provided it. Else, leave it blank. - Click on "Change WAN MAC Address". - Click on the button "Clone". - Click on "Apply Changes" Hope this saves someone else the 3 hrs it took me to find a fix. Good luck!

I have had same problem with both iPhone 4 and iPad 2.. SIMPLE FIX! It seems to be a problem with wireless security on some routers and not being 100% "friendly" with Apple software!

Of course, first step is to turn off your wireless router and turn it back off to "reset" it. If that does not work, follow the easy steps below.. Don't need to change any setting or reset stuff!

1. Go to Settings -> Wi-Fi. Connect to a "non-secured" wireless network (like a free wireless network at an airport, hotel, or your local restaurant, etc..). It MUST be a non-secured network, no passwords, no usernames.

2. Go to safari and open any web page (www.google.com or wwww.yahoo.com) just to initiate activity. If it works, great! If it does not, you got some other problem and these steps may not help you.. sorry!

3. Then, go back to Settings -> Wi-Fi. Now select your preferred "secured" wireless network and connect.. Wait 30~60 seconds.

4. Go back to safari and try to refresh the page or open another web page (www.google.com or www.yahoo.com).

It worked for me.. hope it does for you too!

Hi Guys

I'm hoping you can provide some feedback.

I have two iPhone 4's, my factory unlocked one connects to wifi no problem (os4.3.2) as well as iPad 2. My other iPhone is unlocked by gevey sim on firmware 4.3.3 connects to my personal hotspot from my factory unlocked iPhone but can't find my wireless network.

I've tried changing all the settings on my belkin router with no luck, I know the hardware isn't faulty on the 4.3.3 iPhone as it connects to the personal hotspot.

Any ideas? I thought maybe downgrading to 4.3.2 is that possible.

Thanks any feedback appreciated

3. Settings > WiFi> OFF

4. Unplugged my router for over 30 minutes I had tried spells of ten minutes etc before with no luck

Hi, I'm facing same problem as others too (these 2 days).

For your all information, in my house there are 4 iPhone 4 users, 1 iPad2 user, and 1 iPhone 3gs user. The other apple devices working fine with my home internet.

In my case, my iPhone 4 (version 4.3.4) able to detect and connect to the home wi-fi (Yes, it shows "connected" on wi-fi setting). However, the wi-fi icon didn't show up on the top of the screen and when I run the apps, the phone working with my 3g connection instead of my wi-fi. (but it works fine with other public wi-fi near my neighbourhood).

Yes, I have tried everything suggested: from iPhone setting to config the routers. But nothing seems to help. I don't think it's a router problem since my other apple, sony, and pcs working fine with it.

I hope someone can help me ;(

I have had this problem for a few days now. My iPhone 4 cannot connect to my home network but I can pick up public wifi. Just figured solution out and it worked! It's your home router. Sign into it and manually put your iPhone's wifi address into the wifi device section.

1. Log in to router (I have 2wire)

2. Find Top Networking Features and go into wireless section

3. Find Mac Filtering and click allow device list

4. Find Add New Mac Address to list Manually

5. Open your iPhone Settings>General>About and find your iPhone wifi address

6. Enter that in the Mac address field On your router page and click Add To List and save changes

Your router should now recognize your iPhone wifi address and now your surfing!

So I just upgraded iTunes and my iPhone 4 firmware; iTunes to 10.4.0.80 and iPhone 4 firmware to 4.3.4 (8K2).

My iPhone had been connecting to my home WiFi prior to this without any issues. It's a WEP encrypted network, and as of right now, I have an iPod Touch (1st gen) connected to it without any issues and a Macbook Pro connected to it without any issues.

I tried to forget the network, turn off WiFi, turn on WiFi, and join the network; I tried the Network Settings reset; I tried a total restore. I see the WiFi SSID (Bababooey) but when I put the password in, every time I get, 'Incorrect password for "Bababooey".' So yeah...something in the firmware broke the WiFi connect. I don't have access to an open network at the moment to attempt to connect to, and I refuse to touch any settings on my WiFi router since the router obviously is not the issue.

Any other suggestions?
