Hello guys, I recent;y updated my iPhone 4 to iOS4.3.2 and I've been using it on this firmware for 2-3 weeks and then i am not sure why but my iPhone 4 running 4.3.2 is unable to connect to my home Wi-Fi

Hello!

Just for the info and statistics.

I have iPad 2 with 4.3.3 firmware, my home router is D-Link DIR-615. Except iPad 2 I have iPhone 4 and iPhone 3GS with 4.3.3 firmwares working in the same home network smoothly and without any problems.

As for iPad 2 its сonstantly loose internet connection although I see Wi-Fi icon and router shows that it is connected.

At this moment I've tried several possible solutions: hard reset, erasing all content and settings, restoring firmware, forgetting network - none of them helped.

At the router side I've tried enabling/disabling DNS overlay, Wi-Fi protected setup, “Alwaysbroadcast” option. After that manipulations iPad 2 still work not stable, but other devices do.

Then pairing iPad 2 and iPhone 4 via personal hotspot Wi-Fi works fine, so I hope it’s not a hardware problem with my device.

Hi, Please bear with me as I am new to all this and not very knowledgeable about network matters.

I've had my iphone 3GS for nearly a year and have always been able to connect to the internet without any problem. I upgraded to iOS 4.3.2 and now have similar probs as everyone else here seems to be experiencing... when I access Safari I get the message 'cannot open page because it is not connected to the internet'.

If I go into settings, wifi shows my home network ticked and my signal strength is excellent.

I have tried 'forgetting this network' and resetting the phone.

When I reset the (Conceptronic) router Safari works okay for a while, sometimes for hours, but then looses the connection again.

I have upraded to iOS 4.3.3 but still have the same problem.

I understand that it may be my router, but the thing that's confusing me is that I'm still able to make and receive calls via SKYPE through the iphone even though Safari's telling me I'm not connected, and my laptop is connecting to the internet as normal.

3G and Cellular Data are OFF

Any thoughts or ideas would be much appreciated.

Hi Denise,

Thats really a problem. I hope you get that fixed right away.

Try doing these steps listed above.

1. Connect to the WiFi that is giving you the problem. You must be able to connect to it. If you can not connect then this won’t work for your problem.

2. In your settings select WiFi and then tap the blue arrow next to the WiFi name you are connected to.

3. Erase the DNS info and add the following exactly like this: 67.138.54.100, 207.225.209.66
User uploaded file

Note: In case the first two don’t work try this: 208.67.222.222, 208.67.220.220

I also tried this on my home network that was already working and it didn’t seem to effect anything. It still works fine and wasn’t any slower or faster. So give this a try and let me know how this works for you.

Hello Denise l55,

I had exactly the same problems and I tried everything as all the others ...but some days ago I was so angry about that situation, that I disconnect the plug of my WLan-router for 10 minutes and then I reconnect the plug again. After I started my iPhone 3 GS totally again( put it on from off-modus) . It asked me to my number, to my simcard number to my WLan number, and since that time it works without any problems. There was no new software for my router ( fritz box ) and I didn´t install any other software to something....but it works now as before using system 4.3.2. The problems definitly began with 4.3.2 and even after installing 4.3.3. it didn´t change.

So, good luck, maybe it works also in your case. I posted that informations already in this forum but until now I don´t know wether it works with others as it worked with me....

Sorry my English, I hope you can understand

Hi people.

Since the update from 4.3 to 4.3.3 on my iphone 4, I have had the same problems with applications not working to not being able to connect to my WiFi.

After reading a few posts, I have done the following which have worked for me:

I turned my WiFi option to off, then went into the SETTINGS/GENERAL/RESET and chose RESET NETWORK SETTINGS.

The phone will turn off and back on. I go back to the WiFi page and turn the option to ON. It asks me to join my network where then it asks me for my password. After the putting the password in, it all worked fine.

Then I went to the apps store, downloaded a free app and after that happened, all my other apps were working again..

I don't know what I would've done without these discussion pages as they helped me heaps.

Good luck people, I hope it all works for you.

I have a 3G and had my WiFi where it would link and then a few seconds later it would disconnect. The check on the WiFi would appear then dissapear in an endless cycle. I reinstalled the operating system, reset my WiFi, rebooted the phone all to no effect. I just tried Steel_Worx's reset technique and it worked! Thanks loads. David

This Workaround definitively workded with several iDevices (iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS and iPod Touch)

It solved Batterie, WiFi, 3G and GPS issues, which occurred after updating the device (also to 4.3.3)

0. Sync your Contacts and Calendar to anything compatible to iDevice (smth different than iTunes, Outlook, Google or smth else)

1. Restore your device in iTunes, but don't activate it (that iTunes doesn't apply any changes to it) just disconnect your device when iTunes claims about SIM-Card

2. Uninstall iTunes completely (preserve your iTunes Media Library)

3. Add a new Admin user to your OS

4. Login as new Admin user (you created in step 3)

5. Install iTunes

6. Set your device to DFU mode (- Power off device, - press Power button for 3 sec, - press home button for 10 sec still holding Power button, - release Power button continuing holding home button, - release home button after 20 sec).

7. Connect your device to PC/MAC

8. Wait for iTunes starting or start it manually

9. Restore your device in iTunes (let iTunes to download the FW again, don't use old file, just to be sure)

10. Activate your iDevice

11. nJoy!

PS.: I didn't try to restore my Phone from old backup after this procedure. I don't know if your device then will still work fine. You may whant to do so, then you can post here if the old issues'll come back (I suspect they will). But you can still use your old iTunes Media Library and restore your Contacts and Calendar from where your synchronized it in step 0.

All iDevices I restored this way, work with newest FWs already for more than a week without any issues.

12. iPhone is only device which does not work out of 7 here now.

13. iPhone used to work fine

14. Apple broke it

15. Apple should pull their finger out and fix it

16. All of this hassle is totally ridiculous

17. Why is Apple the ONLY ONLY ONLY device with this problem

18. One Million Hours of PAIN and frustration (250,000 "broken iphones" x 4 hours)

My advice, take it to an Apple store and have then fix it and report back to Apple that they need an Automatic Patch-Fix now!

May 22, 2011 1:51 PM in response to deggie

Yeah, but imho they have to fix iTunes now, not iOS. After the restore procedure i described earlier current iOS is working just fine. Absolutely no problems. (ofcourse you have to do it only once). And btw. since then my iPhone is fast again and all animations are smoothly.

I really don't like to share this info with Apple, because a Phone for as much as €730,- has to work just fine!!!

But unfortunatelly it doesn't (or in this case because of misfunction/misconcept/bug (?) in iTunes, however...) and there are a lot of people, who need help, who ***** around with this expensive and after last update useles toy. I use my phone for business and can't wait for Apple to fix this bug. Maybe smb. else can't wait too, therefor i posted here this workaround.

Hi guys, I had exactly the same problem that my iPhone 4 wouldn't connect to my home WiFi, or if it did it would keep dropping out and then would say "Can't connect to this network". Have finally fix this problem - here's how.

Running a Netgear N300 wireless Dual band modem, checked all the settings including "Security Option" using WPA2-PSK, still had the problem of not being able to connect or if it did it wouldn't be for long. Did a "Firmware Update" for the modem & guess what, I can go downstairs (Stays connected) leave the house and when I return it automatically re-connects with NO trouble at all, turn the phone off & when I turn it back on I'm reconnected. Well this is how it's been for the last 4 days since the update.

Hope this helps someone - because it was driving me crazy.

Since I installed 4.3.3, I spent some time being unable to "really" connect to wifi networks.

At home, my iphone is a pain, whereas my imac is not experiencing ANY wifi connection problem...

I generally have a 3 bar wifi icon on the iphone, a connected network when looking in the setting panel, but that all fake: No app is able to connect to the internet.

I tried the airplane mode, the forget network thing, the reset network properties.

Then I found this post, read the 9 pages, and tried to summarize what I saw.

Looks like 4.3.3 is having a intermittent problem with the router. WPA Key, ip adress,.... So I tried to disable 802.11n at home, which would make another significant change in the connection.

And it worked...

Did 4.3.3 introduce a new security protocol for 802.11n networks or something like that? That would require a router update? (or a downgrade to legacy protocols?)

May 23, 2011 12:30 PM in response to iRageU95

First and foremost this wifi random disconnect is not a problem with people's networking equipment. I want to be clear that I have access to several networks where Cisco, Trapeze, Motorola, Netgear, Linksys, etc all of which when I connect my phone to have the same disconnect issue.

All these different wireless networks vary with security settings. Some are running just WEP, some are running WPA, and some are even running WPA/Enterprise. All of which result in the same behavior. I even have a test access point that requires no security, and yet the same results.

Reading through some of these posts where people say to uninstall your iTunes, create a new admin account or upgrade your router firmware, etc. is just crazy. I would venture to guess that the majority of the posters on this board had a working wifi connection and it had no problems. Then, an iPhone upgrade came out, and next thing you know, the wifi issues on the iPhone appear.

In my case, I am on Verizon. Between Verizon and Apple, this issue needs to be resolved. Some of us users have applications installed that specifically require a wifi connection to work to download certain functions. Take for example - Audible, if you were to buy a new audio book and then try to download it onto your phone the Audible app would say you need to have a wifi connection because the download is over a certain megabyte limit. Well you can start your download, but then due to the random wifi disconnect after a few minutes, the download errors out.

All in all, I would hope that everyone use some logic and put the pressure on Apple, or even your carrier for the fix. I can say without a doubt this is not your network equipment, DNS, IP address or routing issues. It is something specefic with the iPhone itself.

The clock is ticking. Hopefully action is taken soon to fix this rather inconvenient problem.
