"There is a problem with your device"

I just plugged my iPad (1) into iTunes to sync and it said there was a new software update available and did I want to install it. I said yes and the update started. After a while, it said there was an error and I needed to restore which I attempted only to have an "There is a problem with your device" message come up. I unplugged it and plugged it in again and the same error message happens every time. I contacted Apple support and they said the "hardware" still has 60 days of warranty left but they want $29 per incident or $79 for ongoing support and an Apple Store is 100 miles away. I would appreciate any help I could get. Thanks.

This situation really blows.... And in situations like these experience has taught that you have two choices, you can either laugh, or you can cry..... I've done both..... So,to throw some humor into this mess.

Q: What's the difference between the Apple iPad, and the Motorola Xoom?

A: Who freak'n cares!!!! The Xoom's are working now, I'm jumping ship.

Just tried activating my Ibrick at 18:30 UK and same message. Sad thing is Apple know about this as confirmed by their staff, yet it's us muppets sat behind a computer keep plugging the pricey ibricks in, on the off chance Steve Jobs has but a 50p in the meter. I started looking at this 24hrs ago and getting a little frustrated now.

No wait for the Samsung Galaxy 10.1 ... that will be a MUCH better tab. (I think close to iPad, but only using Android Honeycomb) Due out June 8th? Check the date. I may be doing the same. I love the iPad, but the locked down OS and the broken activation, the fact that it relies on an activation for an UPDATE or RESTORE is horrible.

I agree maybe there should be ONE INITIAL activation/registration, but after that it should not be phoning home for a simple recovery or update. arrrrgh!

Here I sit with my iPancake until Apple gets head out of butt or until monday evening; whichever comes first.

I really want to keep the iPad, but like most of you I just cant have this expensive brick on my payroll if it isnt going to do anything for me soon.

c'mon Apple. Post something official and quit saying "i dont see any issues"

HERE WE ARE. THERE IS AN ISSUE. - My Case# is 220802200 - I spent 2 HOURS on the phone with your staff today and got NOTHING but that case stinkin #.

Hi again folks,

Yesterday night i was playing around to fix the problem because i thought it was my mistake. Just clarify and avoid people wasting so many hours like I did.

-I have downgrade my ipad with TinyUmbrella to 4.2.1, 4.3 and back to 4.3.3 using TSS server. The same problem. (succesful downgrade but same screen)

-I have played around with hosts files and end up with the same thing.

-I have tryed diferent terminal tools for fixing recovery loop but back on the same. (irecovery, etc)

-I jailbreaked it several times with diferent tools like greenpoison pwnage, etc. Same error.

-I restored several times from Windows and Mac devices. The same problem.

So my conclusion is that we will not fix it until Apple says something.

Cheers
