"There is a problem with your device"

I just plugged my iPad (1) into iTunes to sync and it said there was a new software update available and did I want to install it. I said yes and the update started. After a while, it said there was an error and I needed to restore which I attempted only to have an "There is a problem with your device" message come up. I unplugged it and plugged it in again and the same error message happens every time. I contacted Apple support and they said the "hardware" still has 60 days of warranty left but they want $29 per incident or $79 for ongoing support and an Apple Store is 100 miles away. I would appreciate any help I could get. Thanks.

I ran in the same issue this morning with my iPad 1 @ 9:30am Sydney AEST (GMT +10)

I have spoken to Apple Care who has no idea what this error msg is but have booked me in this Monday to have it checked or replaced at the Apple Store due to hardware issue.

I do hope it is an activation issue and fixes itself real soon so we can all have our i devices back up and running again.

I am really regreting trying to update from 4.2.1 on my iPad 1 to the 4.3.3.

My story is the same as all of yours.

It bricked, I tried it on a different computer, it looked like it worked, and now it tells me there is a problem with my device.

This is my first Apple product, I never understood the Apple hype before I got the iPad, and frankly, I still don't.

I do like the iPad for reading, internet, music, but I don't think I like Apple constricting how I use everything. Anyway, that is off topic, I think I am frustrated.

The thing is, I do all kinds of stuff on windows computers, but I was a good boy with my iPad, I didn't jailbreak it, I paid for my apps, etc.

It is a really frustration that the problem was caused by an Apple update, not jailbreaking, or virus, or even hardware failure.

Hi Peeps

Got the same error when trying to sync ITunes with my 'new' iPad2 64gb. I had just bought the iPad privately and thought that maybe I had got 'rolled' by the seller. Anyway, it was only 1 month old so I booked a visit with a Genius at the local Apple Store.

Before doing this, I had tried doing a forced restore which didn't work - I ended up with the same error message.

So the result is that Apple will replace my iPad2 for free. He said it was either a firmware or hardware issue.

I'm located in france, it's 10;40 AM here on 14th of may and I have exactly the same problem as yours !!!!

I juste updated my ipad from 4.3.2 to 4.3.3 and after restoring it just kicked me off when trying to activate and show me the same message you guys have : "there's a problem with your device"

my ipad 1 was perfectly working before this update... Apple please be more reactive, it seems that the problem is still on going since 2 days now !
