"There is a problem with your device"

I just plugged my iPad (1) into iTunes to sync and it said there was a new software update available and did I want to install it. I said yes and the update started. After a while, it said there was an error and I needed to restore which I attempted only to have an "There is a problem with your device" message come up. I unplugged it and plugged it in again and the same error message happens every time. I contacted Apple support and they said the "hardware" still has 60 days of warranty left but they want $29 per incident or $79 for ongoing support and an Apple Store is 100 miles away. I would appreciate any help I could get. Thanks.

The support line in Germany is open today but that was of NO help. They denied that it has ANYTHING to do with apple, they were trying to convince me that it was MY problem...they suggested that I should change to connection cable or try another pc/account. If that is of no help I should return it to the store (have warranty until June 1st). That is what I am thinking of right now...So it really doesnt matter if its older or younger than 90 days... "apple care" probably means they care for their profit, not for the customers... 😟
