iPhoto 11 DOES NOT save edits and you cannot export them

I have seen numerous posts regarding the inability to export or save photo edits on iPhoto 11. The same people keep recommending the same solutions in these posts, but those solutions do not work. It may be that this problem is limited to Macbook Air laptops or something like that but the solutions that are provided do not discuss the type of Mac being used, etc. Simply put, this problem is widespread and no workable solution has been suggested. Any new ideas would be most appreciated. Thanks.

This issue is totally happening to me also, iphoto 11, 2.8ghz imac with 4gigs ram etc etc. While not the best, it can serve as a quick photo editor, cropping enhancing exporting. Why did they simply leave off a save button or some other way to ensure all the hard editing work is saved?? I closed out of iphoto, restarted, booted from external hard drive (library) and got through ONE photo before same problem...does not save edits.

Pray for some update to fix this is all i'm hearing from these posts...or use another photo editor. Not acceptable answer for this. Another thought, what is the maximum library you all are familliar with and does that affect performance??

thanks

Hi Terence,

I came across this old thread relating to a problem I am having: noise edits in iPhoto11 (9.2.1) are displayed when the edit options are open, but aren't saved when it is closed ot the photo is exported.

Other edits such as highlights, shadows etc are saved and exported.

I tried your suggestion of making a new library and the same problem occurred.

Any suggestions will be welcomed.

Thanks,

Andy

Hi there ...

I don't know if my problem is the same but here is my solution ... it worked for me ..

The enhancement and crop window always saved ... but when I went to "Adjustments" ... like sharpness and shadows and all that ... it wouldnt save ...

This is how it now works for me ...... do your adjustments ..... then ..... press the "done" button .... do not collapse the adjustment window and then press "done".

Just press done ... and the window will collapse by itself ..... Now my edits are being saved ...

My pretty poor advice is to abandon iPhoto and Aperture, both of which i have purchased for my mac and accept that Apple have lost any concept of what made us move to them in the first place. Join me in the decision that my next computer purchase will be a PC as I fail to see that Apple are now offering me anything better than Microsoft do but at a much higher price. Also be warned OS X Mavericks will not solve these issues and will br

I bought a macbok pro a week ago, and I'm having this same issue. A huge reason I even purchased this computer was because of the usefulness of iphoto and other similar programs on Apple. Changes that I make under the "Adjust" tab automatically save, but this is not the case for the other two tabs. I found that, after editing a photo, I am able to export the new version to another folder, and thus save all of my changes. However, this is quite inconvenient, as my previous macbook pro (circa 2010) would save all edits directly in iphoto (unless I am misremembering?). Is there still no solution to this issue?

Again, best to create a new thread with details of your issue. This thread goes back two years and features different versions of iPhoto.

Plus you need to explain what you mean when you say that it won't save some edits but that when you export them they are there? The thread title is for a different issue entirely.

There are 9 different versions of iPhoto and they run on 9 different versions of the Operating System. The tricks and tips for dealing with issues vary depending on the version of iPhoto and the version of the OS. So to get help you need to give as much information as you can. Include things like:

- What version of iPhoto.

- What version of the Operating System.

- Details. As full a description of the problem as you can. For example, if you have a problem with exporting, then explain by describing how you are trying to export, and so on.

- History: Is this going on long? Has anything been installed or deleted? - Are there error messages?

- What steps have you tried already to solve the issue.

- Anything unusual about your set up? Or how you use iPhoto?

Anything else you can think of that might help someone understand the problem you have.

I am having the same problem with iphoto in my macbookair osx 10.7.5 with iphoto 9.2 626. Sometimes my edits save and sometimes they don't. After three tries I was able to email an edited photo, but am not sure if it will still be in the photo library tomorrow as edited. One thing I do is always go to photos > duplicate, and then edit on a duplicate version. But sometimes I later end up with simply two versions of the original instead of one original and one edited version.

I have read all the posts in this thread (just now) and when I tried to find the latest solution or recommendation I saw a blue highlight that said this had branched to a new discussion. When I clicked on it, I got a message that said this was a 'restricted area,' and that I should check with the adminstrator or person who had sent me there !

So - am still looking for the latest simple fix - does the triple click work? Or is there another possibility?. I am too old to be rebuilding my library; I can't really follow how to do that. Has apple fixed this problem yet? Thanks for any assistance.
