iPhoto 11 DOES NOT save edits and you cannot export them

I have seen numerous posts regarding the inability to export or save photo edits on iPhoto 11. The same people keep recommending the same solutions in these posts, but those solutions do not work. It may be that this problem is limited to Macbook Air laptops or something like that but the solutions that are provided do not discuss the type of Mac being used, etc. Simply put, this problem is widespread and no workable solution has been suggested. Any new ideas would be most appreciated. Thanks.

Again, best to create a new thread with details of your issue. This thread goes back two years and features different versions of iPhoto.

Plus you need to explain what you mean when you say that it won't save some edits but that when you export them they are there? The thread title is for a different issue entirely.

There are 9 different versions of iPhoto and they run on 9 different versions of the Operating System. The tricks and tips for dealing with issues vary depending on the version of iPhoto and the version of the OS. So to get help you need to give as much information as you can. Include things like:

- What version of iPhoto.

- What version of the Operating System.

- Details. As full a description of the problem as you can. For example, if you have a problem with exporting, then explain by describing how you are trying to export, and so on.

- History: Is this going on long? Has anything been installed or deleted? - Are there error messages?

- What steps have you tried already to solve the issue.

- Anything unusual about your set up? Or how you use iPhoto?

Anything else you can think of that might help someone understand the problem you have.

I'm sorry but your answer isn't clear to me. My message included information you are asking me for re model numbers of os and iphoto. And I can't see why you are saying I should start a new thread. (And have told people that before too). One of the things that I found most informative about reading through THIS thread is that the problem goes across all mac models and seems to have been introduced with iphoto updates around 2011 and to be there ever since. If each person with this problem starts a new thread, the group eye is lost. Also, as I already mentioned, I DID click on a link to 'branched to a new discussion,' and was told I am 'unauthorized.' My question is exactly that - in relation to THIS thread, has iphoto developed a fix so that one can save edits done in 'adjust?'

It's now September 2014, and this is still broken. I just imported a tiff, performed many edits to get the old photo into pretty good shape, and I've exported it as TIFF, JPEG and PNG, and none of the exported files embodies any of the edits I've made.

In addition, in iPhoto, if I exit Edit mode while viewing the photo, all the edits disappear, plus the photo's aspect is screwed up. (The photo suddenly gets very narrow.) The exported photos have no edits, but the aspect is correct.

Three years after this problem was first reported, I'm reduced to taking a screenshot so as not to lose my work. Way to go, Apple. NOT.

Actually it is not broken - iPhoto works very well for millions and millions of folks - you have a problem that needs to be addressed - but unless you actually bother to provide details of your situation in a new, clean thread there is no way anyone can assist you

Thanks for the reply, but, actually, it is broken. I'll accept that perhaps some people's usage and/or systems don't cause the bug to manifest – lots of folks never edit their photos, for example – but, when I Google for 'iPhoto doesn't export edits' and find several threads on these forums, and threads on other forums containing literally hundreds of posts from people experiencing the same problem as me, I know the problem is not in my system. Until one of these threads shows a definitive 'fix' for this problem – and you would note that one guy went as far as having an Apple Genius reinstall everything on his computer, only to still have the problem and be told it couldn't be fixed – I'm unwilling to waste any more time looking for this bug.

You need to decide what you want here. If you want to troubleshoot and fix the issue then you need to give us information to help you, and best do that on your own thread. This issue does come up from time to time and we've a very good record in solving it.

On the other hand, if you just want to whine, well, you've done that.

When I first encountered this issue I assumed I was doing something wrong, and started a thread about it. At that stage, rebuilding the database seemed to fix the problem. However, the fix was temporary. Since then, I've researched the problem and found many, many other people who have issues with iPhoto failing to save and/or export edited photos. I haven't troubleshot as thoroughly as some, but I have: allowed iPhoto to rebuild the database (multiple times); rebuilt the database with iPhoto Library Manager (multiple times); reinstalled the OS (multiple times); upgraded my computer. Today, I still have the same (intermittent) problem.

If you've read this thread, the original poster not only didn't get a resolution, but was told by an Apple Genius there was NO RESOLUTION. If you have this problem – and I don't know why some do, and some don't – there is no fix. Hundreds of people – me included – have tried every suggestion in the book and, for us, they DON'T WORK.

I realise that must be hard for someone who's programme works flawlessly to understand, but that's the way it is. I've already dedicated some amount of time to trouble-shooting and that, together with the total lack of resolution received by anybody in this thread (and I believe this thread is where my problem belongs to provide continuity) makes me unwilling to devote any more. I'll just whine, thanks.

Ok Mr Apple PR guy obviously trying to deflect blame.

I'm having the same issues that ARE FULLY DESCRIBED IN THIS THREAD MANY TIMES in 10.8.5 using, iPhoto 9.4.1. In the year of our Lord 2014, oct 10th

You try it yourself and let us know exactly how you succeeded…doesn't sound like you know iPhoto very well. All you have to do is take a few minutes and try it if you know it. And why would you restrict access to the new discussion… very suspicious… !!!

While your at it you see if you can undo the total dumbed down destruction of bookmark management in Safari 6 …thats another problem you can do a search on and find many complaints… maybe the apple is finally rotting. A known bug that goes unfixed for …4 years?

And of course you are DEAD wrong on each and every assertion you make

There are NO Apple PR people here

Any (even minimal) information would be appriciated

iPhoto does save edits and you can export them and it does work on the MBA - and there is no widespread problem with iPhoto '11

So more than "It does not work" and "I've tried everything" would be helpful to trying to give you ideas on how to solve your unique problem

I have tried it (in fact I use iPhoto often) and it=most certainly does work

No idea what you incorrectly think that Safari 6 has to do with iPhoto

and to boot nothing has changed in any way with OS X 10.8.5 or with iPhoto '11 9.4.1 for over a year

So if you want help get off the stupid editorial soapbox and provide facts and details then it is likely some of the users here can help - but with no information no one can help

And again since you seem to be too dense to understand it on a single try
