how do i turn off email notification find my iphone

I would also like to know how to do this. I use the feature to track my children. I don't want them getting a notification every time I locate them. The e-mail is sent to the account that is on the phone being located. Plus if I locate one of my devices on my account, it sends an e-mail to all my devices. It's rather annoying.

I understand what you are saying, but that is not what the service was designed for. It is to locate LOST iPhones, not to track people who you lend your iPhones to. Apple obviously didn't realise that people would use the service in this way, hence why there is no option. Also, if someone found your iPhone, surely it would have a passcode lock so they would not be able to access it, thus not knowing that they have been discovered.

If you want to change the email address the notifications are sent to, then you need to change the associated email address of the Apple ID.

I suggest you send feedback to Apple as they do not monitor these boards.

I agree that there are too many people on here saying that they're using it to track their friends or children, etc - this is clearly not what the feature is for, given that there is another Apple App specifically for that purpose. However, I too would still like to turn the notifications off. Because I have the phone on silent at work all day, it's often still on silent when I get home. I use this feature when I don't know where in the house, office or car I left it - I can't call it, it's still on silent. When I find it, I don't need a follow up email to tell me that I tried to find it. It all comes down to people using their phones - and this feature - differently. I know Apple doesn't like giving users options to personalise, but let us adjust our security settings..!
It's just like the emails to tell me that I logged in to iCloud at all - Apple needs to change this to only after so many failed attempts or something.

Anyway - my point is: Find My iPhone is NOT the same as Find My Friends.

Theoretially, you won't have your iphone with you when you use the "Find my iPhone", so just send the messsages to an email account that isn't configured on your iPhone, then it won't know that you have "found it".

I see no option to set the email address that the notice gets sent to - it seems to be sent to the mobile me account email address only and not changeable and can not shut it off - this needs to be optional!!!

That isn't really the purpose of the app, so thats probably why there is no option to turn it off. They will only recieve an email notification, if mail is set-up on the phone, otherwise they will not know. Are your kids iPhones set-up to use their email accounts or yours? If its theres then they won't recieve any email.

This is my issue too. I verify where my iphone are remotely and when I do this now an email is sent to the iphone itself. Can not turn off the mail on the phone we need it. What I do not need is an email being sent when I am checking on the whereabouts. If I could shut it off great or if I could designate where the email notificaiton would be sent but I can not...yet...Please Apple!!

The email is sent to email address you supplied when you set-up the Apple ID, that is the purpose of the service. Where would you want it sent to??

Also, why do you need to verify where it is? Surely it is with you?

I have many iphones and they are not all with me. The one with me I know where it is. The others I like to track online and I have been able to do so without any notices going anywhere. Now, if I track and it is off line, when it comes back on an email is sent to the phone itself (in the hands of whomever I have entrusted it to). I would not mind the notification if I had the option of sending the notification to an alternate email address so that the entrusted party does not get a notice that I am tracking the phone but that is currently not an available option nor is turning off the notification. Apple.......please!!

So the iPhone your have 'entrusted' to people are set-up with your email account? What i mean is that if someone with one of these iPhones loads the Mail app, they recieve your emails?

The iPhone will only recieve an email if;

Mail (on that iPhone) is actually set-up using the email address assocaited with your Apple ID. If not, they will not recieve any sort of notification.

The iphone that are entrusted to others have their email not mine. Therefore the notification goes to their emails so they now know that I am tracking the phone. When I track I use their Apple ID and their Password in find my phone. This notification makes little sense anyway, if I lost my phone why would I want a notification sent to my phone telling the party that took it or found it that I am tracking it -- I could always have done that remotely if I wanted to send a message to the phone or wipe it clean. Now I can not track the phones without the entrusted party knowing that I am doing so. Needs a change

There is (currently) no reason you have to use an e-mail address that belongs to your children to set up the MobileMe find my iPhone service on the phone.

You can set up the FMIPhone account on their phones using your Apple ID. Then if you set restrictions on their device, you can prevent them from changing the account settings and turning that off. The only way they would be able to get round it would be to turn off the phone entirely or wipe it.
