When I try to update the Apple Tv, I recieve a message saying that the device cannot download the most recent update and that I should try again later. I have also had issues signing in to Netflix, but those issues seem to be unrelated.

Still not working here in the UK.
Last two days have just been failed attempts. The download gets as far as the 'u' in 'About 2 Minutes remaining' and then reports that the update was unsuccessful.

You'd think California would be the first place they would roll it out to, but apparently not. Like my neighbors farther north, still not working in LA as of Sunday morning.
BTW, update not working MD. It says that the update was not successful. I have had Appletv since Father's Day and have not been able to update. If anyone gets any information, please let me know. Thanks.

Had the same problem for the last two days. but Just tried to do a restore and it worked here in the UK
Not working for me either. I'm in Maui on vacation. Took my vacation use only ATV. Bonehead move was not to regularly update OS since last trip. Unfortunately, I'm on 4.0 so not Airplay. Started trying to update yesterday and it has failed every time. This morning I thought I had beat the beast by using a micro USB and updating thru iTunes. Cruel trick. Speeds here are painfully slow. After waiting around for the better part of an hour (twice), the download advised me of a "corrupt file." Then I found this thread.
Still failing in Australia. Not a great display of 24x7 support from Apple.
I .can get Netflix but I can't download the update in Florida. Thisnhas been going on for 3 days
Restoring from iTunes was finally successful in San Jose CA, June 26 2:57PM.
I went out and bought a micro USB cable after the upgrade continually failed over the last couple days (over both WiFi and ethernet), and this did the trick (or else things just happened to be straighted out on Apple's end when I returned from the store).
One thing though. The Apple TV wasn't recognized in iTunes on an i7 iMac (running 10.6.8) with the latest iTunes. But, it WAS recognized on a 2010 Mac Mini Server also running 10.6.8 (but Server) and the latest iTunes. This is after trying several suggestions offered by Apple on their support site e.g. reboot the i7, etc. Of course, you have to unplug both power and HDMI from the Apple TV when restoring from iTunes (per Apple guidelines) and I'd done both these on the i7. Oh well...go figure.
I was upgrading from 4.1.1 and Apple TV now shows version 4.2.2(2203).
After trying for 24 hours, it updated and installed in Santa Cruz CA at 5:15 pm. Good luck.
Can't update from Canada
From Chicago- unable to update my ATV 2. Tried both network via the unit itself and via iTunes. iTunes restore errors saying the download was corrupt. Tech support did tell me the same as others have commented- it is a known issue and they are working on it with an ETA of next week sometime. They suggested an appointment to swap out the unit.
