Thanks. I do have 10.0.3 loaded with the operating system 10.6, but I will upgrade that today to Lion and 10.7.
hmmm... any reason why one would NOT want to upgrade to Lion?
I definitely want to see this tool that Canon has been working on for so long.
Mitch
Canon states:
1. Installation Requirements The following software must be installed on the PC - Final Cut Pro X 10.0.3 2. Supported OSes Same as the support conditions of Final Cut Pro X |
Final Cut Pro X 10.0.3 requires 10.6.8 or higher according to the Appstore so this plugin shouldn't require Lion if the above is correct.
The link is available 🙂
Downloaded the new FCPX plug in from Canon and it seems to work a treat. Only a quick test but it seems fine.
I copied my card direct to my desktop and found I had to use "import from Camera" then select my copied card then "open archive" then used "import all" and hey presto, it worked.
Thanks so much Canon, I waited 8 months for this plugin just to find out it doesn't install on Snow Leopard!
Well it actually does and the plugin seems to work fine in 10.6.8. Here's what you can do:
You have to temporarily change you system version number to 10.7.2 in order to install the plugin.
The plugin seems to create optimized media only.
Where's the promised native editing of Canon MXF files?
Seems there's still need for XfcpX.
I was wrong and all is well the imported clips are in Apple XDCAM HD422 format.
I downloaded the new Canon plug-in and have XPFM20 on my desktop and in by fcpX Event Library. When I click import files, it goes to my masters folder, but when I click on either folder named CLPS001 or 20120212143654 I get the message None of the selected folders can be imported or folders can be imported.
Any advice or solutions?
What do you mean by "I have XPFM20 on my desktop"
XPFM20 is a disk image. You must open it and run the installer app.
Worked beautifully for me. Imported some clips that I had saved from my XF100 card to my backup disk using the Canon utility.
Thank you Canon!
Hi,
You need to use the Canon directories names (the same that on the CF card)
For exemple : CONTENTS/CLIPS001/20120212143654
And you need all the files of the CF card and also the JOURNAL folder.
The best is to import clips directly from CF in FCPX.
This is great news - although the timing could not be worse for me... I just released XfcpX 2.0 ;-)
Oh well - I made the **** thing, so here it is anyways: http://pika.dk/?p=472
It's pretty much useless now I guess ;-)
I can't wait to test the new plugin - I hope it...well.... simply works :-)
Thanks a lot Rune. I just tried XfcpX 2.0a and it works great, is easier to use and looks good. There's even a thumbnail while processing. Great work!
Your utility is the only way to bring Canon .mxf files into FCP X without the need for the folder structure. It also doesn't require an NLE or the XF Utility to make viewable copies on a laptop. So there's still need for it.
I will definitely keep it in my tool box.
What could be better?
It doesn't remember source and destination locations between sessions
An optional second destination location would allow for automatically backup.
There's a color (gamma?) difference between your Apple MPEG2 .mov and Canons XF Plugin Apple XDCAM HD422 .mov.
Not in FCP X but in the QuickTime player and also the OS X Finder preview. Your version appears more saturated with a redish cast.

Nope, Rune, your program is not useless at all. I prefer it over the clumsy Canon plug.
