Will OSX Lion still support FCP Studio?

With the disaster that FCP X is turning out to be, is there any indication as to whether or not any versions of FCP Studio will still work with OS X Lion? I have a sneaking suspicion that it will not, considering the approach Apple has taken with the FCP X release, but I haven't heard anything definitive yet. I'm hoping Apple will come out with some kind of statement regarding FCP X soon, because the way this release has been handled is absolutely bizzare. If there is no intention of continuing to support the professional community, just say so, and everyone can move on to something else.

Final Cut Pro 7, Mac OS X (10.6.7)

I wanted to congratulate you on your latest reply to "the clouded star" or whatshisname. But it looks like the courtesy police was quicker and deleted your post.

Still, you hit the nail on the head.

Thanks, SK. The deletion by the Apple Police means that one of their unpaid little brown-shirts snitched.

Wow, I just realized I haven't been round here in a while.... Was looking over some of the threads on Lion... even after the latest .1 update still lots of problems. I've binned FC, moved on. We're winding down FCS on all edit bays, and giving serious consideration to replacing hardware too, depending on how Lion progresses (or as expected, regresses). Anyone who thinks Apple is going to sink millions into bringing FCx up to pro market levels (and still sell it for $300) is living in Oz.

I've also heard that 98% of the original FC eng. team has departed-- replaced I assume (judging by what I'm experiencing) by youngsters still sporting eggshell ontheir behinds, rubbing crystal balls and shaking 8-balls to determine the future trends of the almighty Apple.

While Apple is now enjoying unprecedented financial success(paralleled only by their arrogance), I would predict that their fall will beall the greater, when it happens.

From the WSJ yesterday:

Apple Inc. Chief Executive Steve Jobs envisions a new landscape in which personal computers no longer rule the digital world—but are just another device, like the company's hit smartphones and tablets.

"We're going to demote the PC and the Mac," Mr. Jobs said, speaking at the company's developer conference in June.

Very interesting, to say the least.

I don't know what your post has anything to do with all this. But how about this one?

Or this?

In keeping with Channel 40's policy of bringing you the latest in blood and guts and in living color, you are going to see another first -- attempted suicide.

Last words of a 30-year-old TV-anchorwoman before killing herself onair in 1974.

Ah, but we all know what happened to the FCP TITANIC when people claimed "Not even Jobs himself could sink this software".

FACTS, FACTS FACTS - you just don't like them do you! 👿

Here's some facts for you:

Since the intentional EOL of FC Studio (and all it's components) by Apple, any and all forums related to Final Cut products have become obsolete by professional editors.

Additionally with the release of Lion, it is apparent that Apple is slowly migrating their operating platform towards that of mobile media hardware. Apple's Steve Jobs has stated that he intends to "demote" the desktop computer (Mac Pro). cf Wall Street Journal 8/19/11:

http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424053111904070604576516770382416428.html?m od=WSJ_article_forsub

It is quite obvious to anybody capable of sustained logical thought patterns that Apple is moving towards a single market position of being a mobile media sofware and hardware provider, and has, without any regard, trashed their decades-long, loyal, professional, post-production clients.

I thought this was obvious?

Your take on the situation, and definately not mine or a whole bunch of us 'professionals' in the UK.

If you want to get your knickers in a twist just type in the words 'kernel panic Lion' and see what you get! I've just had to recover from this one myself - I'm surprised you couldn't hear me cussing n' a swearing on your side of the pond! 😁

Anyway, you live and learn...

Doesn't seem to include you, though. How's this for a sentence:

How do forums become "obsolete by professional editors". Is that an example of "...sustained logical thought patterns".

Then there's this little quote from the WSJ... Why not quote the thing in context? Oh, because in context you can see the quote has nothing to do with what you say...

Jobs continues noting how difficult it’s become to sync our media between various devices. “Keeping our devices in sync is driving us crazy,” he says. “But we have a great solution for this problem. We are going to demote the PC to just be a device. We are going to move the digital hub, the center of your digital life, into the cloud. Now everything is in sync without even having to think about it.”

(that's from here: http://allthingsd.com/20110606/wwdc-2011-live-blog/ )

So, in context, you can easily see that he's referring to the PC in the context on sharing media. Where once it was the digital hub, that moves to the Cloud.

So, no implications there for the MacPro, no implications for the Desktop computer, no need to panic. All it means is that you're mp3 lives in the cloud and can be accessed from your Phone, your Mac or whatever.

Well after 1 weeks of FCPX(disaster) I have asked and will get my money back..waste of time IMO!..Now I will attempt to put Final Cut Pro 7 on my new imac 2.5 GHz Intel Core i5. Lots of differing opinions on the compatability but through experience..FCPX is not the pro application its made out to be it seems.

Hopefully get back to work and earn the cash to feed the Apple machine..

Any comments welcome..Thanks!
