Will OSX Lion still support FCP Studio?

With the disaster that FCP X is turning out to be, is there any indication as to whether or not any versions of FCP Studio will still work with OS X Lion? I have a sneaking suspicion that it will not, considering the approach Apple has taken with the FCP X release, but I haven't heard anything definitive yet. I'm hoping Apple will come out with some kind of statement regarding FCP X soon, because the way this release has been handled is absolutely bizzare. If there is no intention of continuing to support the professional community, just say so, and everyone can move on to something else.

Then I misunderstood, and for that I apologize

I don't use FCP but I do use ProTools and know how I would feel if it stopped working (not to mention the pocketbook deficiency) but although I have now installed Lion on 11 computers, 4 are still at 10.6.6, the ProTools production machines, when I'm happy that the copies of PT I have running on 2 Lion machines are fine I'll clone them and disperse them on the moneymakers.

My bank manager appreciates that kind of thing 🙂

Avid and Premiere Pro both work on Macs...but also PCs, so you have a choice.

I can't leave Mac yet...I like it too much. I get lost in Windows...and HATE IT with a passion.

I know the feeling. When I got my first Mac I couldn't imagine how I could have ever lived and worked without it.

But Avid and Premiere Pro are both first and foremost Windows based editing programs. In terms of upgrades and support the Mac version always comes second.

With FCX not working for me, I HAVE to switch my editing suite in the next year or two. And since I have a first generation Mac Pro I also have to upgrade my hardware. So, I have to ask myself:

Why should I invest in a much more expensive Mac Pro when I can get similar processor power in a PC for less money? Especially when I have to buy new software anyhow?

Why should I invest in a Mac Pro when Apple clearly demonstrates that the Mac Pro user base is no longer of any consequence to them?

I need a company I can trust to a certain degree. A company that will meet my needs also in a few years time. Right now, Apple is NOT that company.

PANIC ATTACK anyone? I think it's too early to make any judgements about the future of Final Cut yet.

Let's see how the updates work when they complete building the suite, which hopefully will be in the next 6 months. In the meanwhile, it's Final Cut 7 on Snow Leopard for me. I tried FC Studio in Lion and it didn't work for my FC 7 project originally created in Snow Leopard.

Which company is? They have a different point of view and when they choose to change the rules we will just have to live by a different set of rules. We are not setting the standards, they are.
