Will OSX Lion still support FCP Studio?

With the disaster that FCP X is turning out to be, is there any indication as to whether or not any versions of FCP Studio will still work with OS X Lion? I have a sneaking suspicion that it will not, considering the approach Apple has taken with the FCP X release, but I haven't heard anything definitive yet. I'm hoping Apple will come out with some kind of statement regarding FCP X soon, because the way this release has been handled is absolutely bizzare. I have successfully done a clean reinstall of snow leopard and have installed a fresh copy of final cut pro.

my final cut 7 project file which did not work in Lion, now works just fine. I don't know what happened when I upgraded to Lion that caused my fc 7 project to go kablooey.

All I know is that I'm going to wait for a final cut update before I try installing Lion again.

RAWR! 😀

Desktop Cinema Preview works fine in FCP 7.0.3 on a clean install av Lion. I would strongly recommend doing a clean install of Lion if you intend to use FCP 7.0.3. Seems like this clears out most of the bugs people have reported about so far.

You can clone the Lion InstallESD.dmg to an external HFS+ drive/parition, startup from that and do a clean install that way. You can find the InstallESD.dmg inside the Lion installer you download from the App Store. It is located in "Install Mac OS X Lion.app/Contents/SharedSupport".

I'm not sure if anyone mentioned this, so I thought I would here.

I couldn't install FCS3 after upgrading to Lion from Snow Leopard. Final Cut was greyed out and it said Skip in the installation window. I found it was because I had installed Final Cut X and the new compressor a few weeks back. So I used AppZaper to remove both of them, and the installation allowed me to continue.

I'll try reinstalling Final Cut X after, though I don't see myself using it too much.

I'm a little confused here. I havn't read the whole thread through yet, but some people are stating Studio 3 will run on Lion and some are saying it kills certain features, What's the bottom line on this? Does it work on Lion or not? Also how much longer before that inevitable OS software update makes Final Cut Studio (or even Avid or Premier if Apple has the balls since they in direct competition with FCPX) unusable on any updated OSX system?

I have just finished instaling Lion on a 2011 17" Macbook Pro , the latest model. To be on the safe side i cloned may Leopard OS , something i advise before trying out something new in a system that was stable. Installation took less than 45 minutes , all apps running so far, FCP is actually running faster. I am editing a tv commercial on the next four days, i will post again about the performance of FCP STUDIO 3 on Lion on Wednesday. But i have to tell you guys , the first impression is that everything is running a lot faster, a lot faster indeed.

I'm having major, incessant crashes rendering FCP nigh-inoperable after upgrading my Early 2008 Mac Pro to Lion (from Snow Leopard, of course). Works fine at home on an iMac, but here, even after reinstalling FCP, I'm dead in the water. Any advice?

I recall someone else having a similar problem, I think in this thread. They did a clean install of Lion, then installed FCS3 and everything was fine. No guarantees though... but then again, dead in the water? What have ya got to loose. Good luck.
