So, it seems some people are experiencing no problems what-so-ever and some people are on the verge of jumping from a very high building... or jumping ship to a more reliable company
Anyway, the aim of my post is to establish whether all those who are having NO problems are working on new projects started in Lion? And all those HAVING problems are working on projects started in Snow Leopard and carrying them over to Lion?
I have 3 projects on the go right now so am apprehensive - to say the least - to "upgrade" to Lion.
I have a clone of the boot-drive (via Carbon Copy Cloner) so can always go back to Snow Leopard but to be honest I just don't think I can justify the lost time nor hassle!
So, folks who ARE having problems and folks who AREN'T having problems, could you please confirm if you are working on NEW projects STARTED in Lion? Or are you working on projects started in Snow Leoaprd and continued in Lion?
Thanks
You are right to be apprehensive. Even if some are not having problems. I NEVER do a major OS upgrade until the x.3 or x.4 release. Most of the larger bug have been squashed by then. And, If your're sailing along on smooth waters now, well... why make trouble for yourself. If you have an edit bay you can spare to the experimentation, and still butter the bread, then do that, but don't stick a wrench in your own gearbox. I've been monitoring this thread for a while. It seems that it's about 50/50. You also have to consider all the variables of your rig(s), 3rd part hardware / software, plugins, etc... And the 3rd party vendors have only recently released their updates to accommodate Lion, so they may not be perfected yet either... Too many variable for me right now. And anyway, FCP7 isn't 64-bit anyway (I know some have reported noticeable increases in speed), but some like our friend Capt'n Chaos above got caught with his pants down. Not his fault entirely... he trusted apple in that they said Lion will support FCS3.... but then again, they told us FCx is a pro app... truth is in the eye of the beholder... Wait for a better time, when you don't have projects in the works, and you have a week to sort out a mess, if need be.
