"Email address is already verified for another Apple ID" Problem

So today I wanted to organize my 2 Apple ID's.

My first apple ID is anferne@gmail.com and my second apple ID is anferne@me.com

Last year I decided to change the primary email address for my Apple ID: anferne@gmail.com to anferne@me.com and vice versa.

So now the Apple ID is anferne@gmail.com

Primary email address is anferne@me.com

The second Apple ID is anferne@me.com

Primary email address is anferne@gmail.com

So today my problem is I can't switch them back. I can't have the same email address as my Apple ID...

But it keeps saying the "Email address is already verified for another Apple ID" 😟

Help please?

I got this fixed today using iTunes Store Support Express Lane (https://expresslane.apple.com/GetproductgroupList.do?PRKEYS=PF4). Had an online chat session with a rep who got it fixed for me. Took about 10 to 15 minutes. It needed their intervention as it's not something that one can currently do oneself (deleting a previously verified email from an Apple ID does not disassociate it from that Apple ID which is the root of all the frustration).

Good to hear its on Apple's radar at least. But this needs to become a high priority item for them as both Apple and their developers are losing money. More importantly, Apple's brand and legendary "It just works" advantage are going to get tarnished the longer this goes on. Buying into the Apple ecosystem means your Apple ID is everything. If that's not working you're really screwed, so it's imperative that Apple IDs are reliable.

If apple would get their **** together, I wouldn't waste time reading your post and fix this apple id/email mess.

I cannot change my primary email address either. None of the links or help provided by Apple support help in the least. The option that they say exist on the Apple id management page do not exist. I spent an hour at the Apple store in Portland yesterday and they were clueless.

Just bought a new imac - new email address on a new account and either their website is broken or the apple id system is broken because it's impossible to verify my email address. The site either crashes with @Cannot complete request@ or tells me the email address has already been verified for another account (which it hasn't) but if i try logging in it tells me to verify my ******* address again.

Is this failure enough basis to get a refund on this mac? I want to just get a PC and not have to deal with this garbage.

Sorry, but I doubt you'll get a refund. Several of the "solutions" listed before your post might work, but I found none works each time--and somehow, somewhere, after a restart or two of your on line account, the problem resolves itself. That's how mine worked out--twice. But get used to problems--it's the new Apple; life in the cloud (which in aviation means zero forward visibility, i.e., Apples future isn't clear anymore with stuff like this.)

I hope you hang in there, though, and don;t get discouraged, Apple stuff is still more user friendly than PCs (although that's hard to believe when problems keep reoccurring!

Sorry to bring up a dead thread but this is the most apt place for my problem.

I have looked through everything I can find but am at a loss. I have this issue, but can not resolve changing my Apple ID to my main email account that I want to link my new iPad mini too. I must have used my main email for another apple product in the past I assume but not sure what or when. All I want to do is have my iPad mini, iPhone and iTunes use my current email account that I use for everything and am finding what I would think such a simple thing so difficult to do.

Any help much appreciated.

This is driving me crazy. I have two AppleIDs (itunes and mobileme/icloud)

I cannot set the email address of the mobile me account (xxxxx@mac.com) to the the email it's named after (xxxxx@mac.com)

I have only two AppleID's and none my cloud or mobileMe email addresses are associated with them at this time, and yet somehow all my mobile me email addressed are "verified with another appleid". Which AppleID? How do I unverify?

It seems that if they were every verified in the past, they are never usable again... ;(

same issue here.

I am having issues with my Apple ID's since transitioning to iCloud and iOS 5. I have 2 Apple ID's:

1) example1@me.com - Primary email associated: example2@hotmail.ca

2) example3@gmail.com (main account used for all purchases, etc) - Primary email associated with this account: example3@gmail.com

as you can see, both of these have a primary email associated with them. However, when I try and change the primary email address of 1) example1@me.com to the example@me.com email it says that "Email address is already verified for another Apple ID". I ONLY have the 2 Apple ID's listed above.

I don't need to merge these 2 accounts, but as an example, when I try and use the "Find My Friends" app while signed in with my example1@me.com account, I can log in, however when I try and use the app it is asking me to 'verify my account' so I click on the link, log into the appleid.apple.com website and try and change my primary email from example2@hotmail.ca to example1@me.com and it just keeps telling me that it's already verified for another Apple ID. Which is most certainly is not. I have spent almost all night working on this and trying to figure it out. It is getting extremely frustrating!

Same here. My situation:

Apple ID 1: example1@mac.com - Primary Email: example2@sth.ing

Apple ID 2: example3@gmail.com - Primary Email: example3@gmail.com, Alternate Emails: example1@mac.com and example1@me.com

Now I wanted to use Facetime and iMessage with example1@me.com and it says "Email address is already verified for another Apple ID".

Ok, so I deleted the alternate Emails from my Apple ID 2. Doen't help. Although it would be really nice to merge the accounts it's not what I'm trying to do. I just want to use my example1@me.com adress with Facetime and iMessage.

I also tried to replace example2@sth.ing by example1@me.com/@mac.com - same message ...

I checked both Apple IDs over and over - they are definitely not in use and not verified!

Same deal here.

iCloud/MobileMe ID: mobile@me.com & Email: name@gmailapps.com

Original Apple ID: name@gmail.com & Email: name@gmail.com

Original Apple ID was setup prior to MobileMe or .mac.

Signed up for MobileMe and used that email with Original ID.

Trying to match ID and email now and cannot. Removed all emails to do so.

Original ID works fine as name@gmail.com and name@gmail.com.

iCloud WILL NOT, and I have name@me.com and random email address.

TOTAL CRAP and very unhappy at the moment as I cannot use all the new features due to this.
