Lion WiFi Connection Problem

Since installing Lion on both my IMac and MacBook Pro, the WiFi cycles (wifi icon on the menu bar) - looking for network - network on - looking for network. iMac with OS 10.6 doesn't have this problem so it's not the AirPort and there was no problem prior to installing Lion. The AirPort Utility log shows lots of connection activity but I don't know if that means anything. The network troubleshooter says theres no problem but it's causing big problems with connection speed and applications that need a constant connection are giving me network errors constantly. Please give me some advise....

Add my name to list of very upset Apple users. Wi-fi drop out problems every minute no matter what fix I've tried. Impossible to work at all. This is an Apple problem and a very basic and bad one. I have two Apple wireless networks and both behave the same. Badly. I've never seen so many posts on one issue with an Apple product before. An update is over due and really an arrogant move by Apple to wait so long to fix this problem. Really pee'ed off with Lion's basic faults and the lack of action by Apple to fix them. Feels like a rush job to me.

I know this forum is not meant for complaining, but where else can I vent my spleen other that send Steve Jobs an email. Long time Apple user and very disapointed.

I didn't have any Keychain issues, I have also tried some of the "fixes" suggested but none have worked. I downloaded OSX Lion last Saturday and this problem has only occured since the download. I get no WiFi connection after lifting the lid and coming out of sleep mode. My Airport express for iTunes to stereo is not experiencing a problem. For me I need to, "Turn WiFi Off" then "Turn WiFi On" to get a connection. Why hasn't Apple fixed this yet??

I logged a ticket with Apple to regarding this and have had several chats, calls and submitted a capture log which has been passed onto Apple developers/engineers etc.

I was advised that usually (note: usually) an update or new fix is released 30 days after the initial launch, so hopefully 10.7.1 should be out in the next few weeks. (No guarantee on that date). I was advised logging a ticket with them is the best thing to do so they are aware of issues and each individual users case.

the only thing I see that has changed is this

Firmware Version: Broadcom BCM43xx 1.0 (5.100.98.75.6)

before I had this now instead of .6 its changed to .10, I saw other people posting before with this firmware level that had these problems so I am not sure this solved anything

nothing here has changed

Well for what it is worth, I downloaded 10.7.1 and what issues I had with the wifi are fixed. I was thinking that some of my issues were Brighthouse but also the distance from the router. I say that because 2 computers that are the same in this house, one had issues other did not. The computer that didnt was in the same room as the router. In my case Apple got it right.

Check that the base station you are trying to renew the connection to after waking from sleep is at the top of the list in Preferred Networks under System Preferences - Networks - Wifi - Advanced - Wifi. if it is not, move it to the top of the list and try again. Also make sure Remember networks this computer has joined is checked.

Let us know what happens.

Setup as you outline since 10.7 and now 10.7.1 (see nipper123)

Enter sleep with a single press on the power button. Wakeup with a click on the Magic Trackpad - No WiFi.

Enter sleep by leaving the iMac to idle. Wakeup with a click on the Magic Trackpad - WiFi works.

Once WiFi is on have similar levels of performance as those in Snow Leopard. Fast, consistent and quality WiFi service. I have tried all the options appearing on this website and others. Simply, WiFi issues in Lion that never appeared in Snow Leopard.

10.7.1 has only been on my iMac for about 6 hours so I will be trying the various remedies again (ignoring the two clean installs that I will not repeat). For the moment avoid using the power button to enter sleep and all is well.
