The directions on that are what I did to get that picture, and I'm not sure how what you mean by what the Finder and Get Info show?

I don't know much about the app you were using. Let's skip it, and delete the folder directly. Use the free TinkerTool app per #A3 in Time Machine - Troubleshooting.

Then open your internal HD with the Finder; that will show a whole bunch of hidden and system files you've never seen, and should not touch. Locate the .cleverfiles folder and delete it. You'll be asked for your Admin password. Once they're deleted, empty the trash (that may take a few moments).

What I meant was, you said you didn't get any space back, so I was asking what the Finder shows for "available" at the bottom of your Finder windows (if you don't have that, select View > Show Status Bar from the Finder's menubar), or by doing Get Info on your internal HD (right-click it and select Get Info).

The .cleverfiles folder? It's at the top level of your internal HD. Open Macintosh HD via the Finder. It should be one of the first things shown.

Keep an eye on it; something you are (or were) running did that, so it may be back.

If it turns up again, let us know and we'll see if we can find the culprit.

In that file there was a .DS_Store file and it ended up on my desktop when I emptied my trash and now it won't delete and just keeps showing up on my desktop.

Have you used TinkerTool to hide hidden folders again? If not, do so.

You'll find those files in many folders. That's where the Finder stores the display info for that folder -- what View to use (Icon, List, etc.), where to position it, how large it is, etc.

I have a boatload of "Other" as well. 150GB. I have my entire iTunes library on an external HD, but I DO have my iPhoto Library on my inernal. Check out the image here. If you see my storage, I have 21GB of Movies (I expect from my iPhoto library, not sure where else as I don't keep movies/shows on my internal HD) and 60GB of photos. So, presumably, I should have about 80GB from my iPhoto Library... but, I have 120GB in my iPhoto Library... what's that about???

UPDATE: I ran OmniDisk and checked out my iPhoto Library... see image here. Looks like the "iPod Photo Cache" is the unknown 45GB!! Anybody know what this is? Can I just delete it?? If yes, and this Cache is worthless, how can I prevent it from happening again?

I have 602GB of OTHER... ***? Thats a **** lot of PDF & ZIP files.... Is OmniDisk the way forward?

Thank you so much for the OmniDisk Sweeper info. It helped me see that there were files on the h/d I had forgotten about. I moved them to an external h/d and freed up a lot of space, 30GB so far! 🙂
