Anyone using a Canon Selphy printer with Lion?

I have a Canon Selphy CP800 and it's quite important to me. Canon have not updated the drivers on their website yet and Apple don't list the CP800 as a compatibile printer. Has anyone actually upgraded to Lion and tried the 10.6 drivers for this or any other Selphy?

I'm holding off the Lion upgrade until I know that all my stuff is supported (take note whingers and whiners).

Any insight appreciated.

For me the provided driver-installer does not work in Lion, I get an error message during installation

No idea if it would keep on working if you already have it installed prior to upgrading

cheers

I loaded the latest Gutenprint (5.2.10a), and it supports my Selphy ES40. The good folks working on Gutenprint had to modify the software back-end to get OSX to support these dye sub printers, and they had to involve someone new to package it up in an installer for OSX, as well. The system does not automatically pick the appropriate driver, but there are very easy instructions in the read me file that is in the DMG to make it work. If it works well for you, please make sure to give your thanks to the guys over at the Gutenprint project.

Doesn't work for me with an ES1 😟

It tries to print then I can briefly see the error message saying "incorrect media/ribbon (03 vs 01) aborting job!" then the job is paused. If I try again it gives the same error message and hold the job again...

I installed 5.2.10a, and followed the instruction in Gutenprint FAQ to install the proper Selphy ES1 drivers, I don't know what I did wrong.

I'm running Mavericks.

Hi, i think i know what´s wrong - i hope so. 🙂

I guess I made the same mistake.

Follow the FAQ under: "4. I added my dyesub printer, but nothing prints."

Under point 4.6 you find "You may need to wait a few seconds for all the listings to appear; on OS 10.5, it may take several minutes, and your system may appear to be frozen." - make sure to wait ... I waited about 15 seconds. 🙂 Then you will see "gutenprint52+usb".

I hope it will work for you. 🙂

After (finally) upgrading my MacOS from Snow Leopard (10.6.8) to Mavericks (10.9.4), I was able to get my Canon Selphy ES2 photo printer working by installing the Gutenprint 5.2.10a drivers downloaded from here:

http://sourceforge.net/projects/gimp-print/files/gutenprint-5.2/5.2.10/

I have not (yet) been able to get full edge-to-edge printing to work on the postcard size "P" media even after selecting the "fill entire paper" radio button and playing with some custom paper size settings, but this is still a much better state than not being able to print at all.

Many thanks to the people on this thread for pointing me in the right direction and especially for those that worked to enable support for the Canon Selphy printers.

Cheers,

Miles
