Anyone using a Canon Selphy printer with Lion?

Yes, so we still waiting for October.

Last day of october today... canon, this *****!

I called Canon support today. They have no idea when (or if) a driver will be released. Ridiculous. Lion was announced a year ago and has been available to the public for almost five months. They act like they just found out yesterday.

Canon will not be producing a driver for Selphy printers. Here is the email I just received from Canon.

Thank you for your inquiry. We value you as a Canon customer and

appreciate the opportunity to assist you. We regret to hear that you

are experiencing difficulty locating Macintosh OS X 10.7 drivers for the

SELPHY CP800.

Unfortunately, Macintosh OS X 10.7 drivers are not planned for your

product. We apologize for the inconvenience this causes you.

While considering the desire to provide the best possible support for

Canon's current products in a timely manner, Canon must make decisions

on which products to support when new operating systems are introduced.

These decisions are generally based on the age of the product and the

number of product estimated to be still in use.

Yet if the decision is made to support a product, the development of new

drivers must be prioritized on basically the same "need" criteria. This

is why some drivers are not available until some time after a new

operating system is introduced.

We understand, and sincerely apologize for the frustration you have

experienced if your product falls into either of these categories (no

driver support or no immediate driver support), but hope that you will

understand our rationale.

We recommend that you transfer pictures to a memory card, insert into

SELPHY CP800 then attempt to print.

I hope this information is helpful to you. Please let us know if we can

be of any further assistance with your SELPHY CP800.

This is ridiculous. They announced the printer last year in August. Think this will be my last Canon product.

Canon is officially banned in our household.... this was a recent purchase for us too... rediculous

You can use a third part driver for Lion.

No, Gimp-Print does NOT work with the CP800 and Lion!

First, it looks, that it works. When you print, the CP800 beginns to print, the vent beginns to spinn and nothing more. Then you must unplug the power of the printer....

btw, I've resorted to working with my images in Lightroom, exporting as JPG 4x6 size files, dropping them on an SD card, and printing from within the device. obviously lose some of the fine tuning that can be done in the software and the output is not as good, but getting by for emergencies

I use a virtual box (https://www.virtualbox.org/) with Windows - just for Printing with this "lovely" Selphy... this means saving pictures in a shared folder, starten VM, opening picture and printing it...

Good idea, but I rather invest the 100$ in a new NON-Canon printer than in Windows...

yes, but you can buy a cheap one like XP... it is just for printing. This could be found for ~15 € at ebay... VB is free and I own a lot of paper... :-)

What doesn't want to go in my head is that the driver is working, when installed on snow leopard and then updated to lion. But not if you made a clean install of Lion. It should be a thing of ten minutes for canon to make the installer Lion ready!?!
