I use pages for my work invoices and have a pretty comprehensive filing for previous invoices. The omission of 'save as' in the lion version of pages is extremely frustrating. Is there a work around? Will they fix this in the future or should I switch to a microsoft excel worksheet?

My turn to learn something. I didn't even know you could do this.
I guess my annoyance and having to type this combination is tempered by learning that it's possible at all. I agree that Apple has totally screwed up its once very well implemented Find File function and made it several degrees of magnitide less useful and harder to work with than it once was.

You can disable this here in Time Machine preferences, since Auto-Save and Versions uses Time Machine services to do its job:

Koenig, you are being a jerk. Dennis_Burman didn't say a word about Lion... and he is absolutely right. The change is itiotic.
As the person who started this discussion, I have to say I am not as vehement about it as Mitch but the sentiment is the same.
You are absolutely right. Export is in some menus but not in all, and the file types offered in some Export menus are too limited.
I don't think "Save As…" is self explanatory; we just got used to what it means.
