Mr. Johns, I want to ask you... I'm not able to get email verification because my apple ID/email address has a typo in it! I honestly don't know how this happened but it has. Instead of the address ending in ".com", it ends in ".coom" so I'm not recieving any verification emails and therefore not able to access my account for management. Do you know if I can do anything about this? Forgive my question if it has been addressed already, I just have not been able to see anything about this particular issue. Thank you for your time.

Hi,

Certain adjustments can be made to only some of the data used in creating an Apple ID.

I am not sure that is one that can be changed.

I will alert the Hosts to this issue with your specific case.

My Apple ID was the same as an email address which was hacked and is now unusable.

I cannot receive emails to that address and so cannot use lost password etc

I have anothe Apple ID that works fine but every now and again I get stuck (like today) because I cannot update unless I enter the password for the apple ID that does not work...the password does not work either.

I have <email address> as an Apple ID and that works fine but I cannot for the life of me get rid of the (what appears now to be a default) the hacked gmail address (apple ID).

Please assist meand an alternative apple ID that I set up but cannot see?

Why in the circumstance you wouldn'r delete this apple ID is beyond me as it is purely a nuisance and of no use to anyone.

Cheers

I have asked to Hosts to contact you as it seems you need more help then the posters here can provide for you.

(They may also remove some of the ID info)

Hi I simply want to choose the option "NONE" for credit card on existing applie Id I already have.

Is that possible?

When on my phone and trying to install a free app for the first time it asks for my apple id and goes thru all the steps and then asks me to enter my credit card # and does not give me an option to choose none and will not let me go forward (and collect $200 dollars 🙂 ).

Please help me on how to proceed. This is for my work phone and I need a specific enterprise app.

Thx.

Hi,

I was looking at this again yesterday and another thread had someone post to it again and iTunes as had one if not two updates since the Thread last has something posted to it.

The Pic I grabbed of the iTunes "Page" showed my Card had run out of date (I don't seem to have been prompted as I still have "money" from redeemed gift card showing)

As I have registered a card in the past I seem to have the "NONE" option.

On the iPhone I can't seem to get the app to show me the same link to view My account (I also tried the App Store as well)

HI Ralph

i appreciate your clear answers to many questions here on the support pages. I cannot seem to find an answer to my particular predicament, so I wonder if you would mind commenting on this situation, please? ( and I apologise if this same problem is already in the forums, but I cant seem to see it anywhere)

I Am about to change jobs, so my primary apple ID, which was my work email address, will soon be no longer valid. I would like to change this ID to another email address but:

  • I tried to change that apple id to another of my email addesses, but they all seem to have previous apple IDs on them that I cant, due to Apple's little quirks, delete.
  • So now I have no other email that I can change the primary account to.
  • I really dont want to go hunting around for another email account to open just to use it for an apple ID
  • I really want to be able to keep all the purchases etc that were made on the primary apple ID, but without a valid email address any longer, I dont know how to do that.
  • SO if I cant merge my closed email ID with another ID I already have, what is the solution?

Any help you can give would be appreciated 🙂

HI,

Have you linked this Apple ID with iCloud ?

My Main Apple ID is with a Dial-up ISP account that gave me the said email.

I can still use it for Fetching mail but cannot send unless I am Logged in via their Dial-up server.

I linked this not that long after iCloud started and gained an @me.com address at the time.

Later Apple emailed me and gave me an @iCloud.com name as well.

I can use any of these to access my iTunes or iCloud or even to Post here with the Apple ID.

I then went to https://supportprofile.apple.com/MySupportProfile.do which allowed me to edit My Details (lower down) and change the Primary email to something other than the Apple ID.

Whenever I use this link it shows me Logged in and I can't seem to find a short form to login from.

The Edit Link now takes you to your Apple ID page - previously you could edit things on this Page like it shows you can for the Password.

The edit take your to the page you can get to from here (Manage Apple ID)

Mine looks like this. (Messy)

The drop down that offers to make your Primary Email the same as your Apple ID only offers the original Apple ID and not the Primary email Address.

This does seem odd as most people do want their "recovery email to be something that they can access and using iCloud linked emails are usually part of the same ID as I have explained.

The wording on all these pages seems to suggest that the Apple ID can be changed but I have never found this to be the case.

In fact the only way I know to close and Apple ID is to be the relative with the Death Certificate of the person involved.

Summary.

I had linked an Email and Apple ID that I may not have access to in the future to an iCloud Account.

This gave me two Apple Issued emails in the longer term.

Separate to that (in some ways) I went to the Apple Profile page and edited the Primary email.

This was to make sure all notifications from Apple Support Communities went to another email.

I was able to use the iCloud issued @me.com name in this case (previously before I linked to iCloud it had been a Google email).

Some parts of this seemed to have changed since I did it.

1) The Profile Page allowed direct edit of the email listed.

2) The whole section Edit link takes you to the Apple ID page where I have a Primary email Listed.

I am not sure if you can create a Primary email this way.

You may have to create an Alternative email and then see if you can make it a Primary one.

Hi,

If you already have an Apple ID then all you need do is open up Messages and enter that Apple ID as the iMessages ID.

If you are trying to create an Apple ID that is going to be only for iMessages then it needs to be a completely new email that is involved.

If, some time back, you registered for an @mac.com name to use in iChat you would have had to supply a verification email (also used for Password recovery) which basically links an email with the @mac.com name

You then can't reuse this email to create another Apple ID (or use the @mac.com one you created).

A similar thing happens when you register an Apple ID to be your iCloud ID

This may link an non Apple email with an @icloud.com name

Both the icloud email and the original one are both access names to your Apple ID and to your iCloud info (and iTunes) but are two separate ones for iChat to use. (NOTE non Apple ISSUED IDs are not AIM valid Names)

HI,

Either Reset the Device to Factory settings or go to the Settings > app involved and remove the info there.

Notes about using Apple Support Communities

Realistically this thread was about removing an Apple ID from the Apple Database (not possible) and therefore you have a different question.

Also the thread is very old and it is nearly 2 months since the last reply (that is a lifetime in some Communities/forums).

You have also linked your reply to the Original Post but then addressed it to me.

I am no longer subscribed to this thread (there is a sort of lifetime to that as well. In some communites it is more evident than in others). I only picked up on it as it was marked as a Unread Thread in the iChat Community.

I hope you find this useful.

Quick question for you Ralph. I signed up another Apple ID one day instead of using my parent one with a new email address. I now would like to merge the two accounts, or at least delete the second account so that I can get my email replies from this forum, as I can't associate two accts with the same email. Is there a way for me to delete the second account?

Thanks.
