Apple Mail Cut & Paste Problem...

I have a problem with Apple Mail when I cut some text and paste it somewhere else within the message it doesn't go in where the cursor is located! Instead it pastes into what appears to be a random place elsewhere in the message usually at the start of the line or paragraph.

It's really strange and completely unfathomable. The only solution I've found is to put in a couple of returns paste it in to the message then move the cursor up and delete the newly added line breaks.

I thought it might be a font issue so I changed my default font from Arial to Trebuchet and it's still doing it. This doesn't appear to happen in any other application.

This is not exclusive to Snow Leopard as it does it on my Mac at home which is running Lion.

Any advice gratefully received.

ironmanlive,

<You guys write too much for a simple issue !!>

What? I'm on the same version of Mac OS.

First, I think you mean "Cmd" instead of "Ctrl". And, not sure what you are trying to do with "Ctrl-A" .... Cmd-A is selecting all, so this doesn't seem to make sense. Are you perhaps new to a mac?

Second, it is EASY to either copy an image from a finder window; or, better yet, just drag and drop it into a new mail message. It IS "Plain simiple". You can ALSO attach a picture - either way this works. I do this all the time in just about every email I send.

Third, what in the world does this have to do with the topic of this thread? (except perhaps it is about the mail program) This is about using the signature feature of Apple Mail and formatting, cutting, copying, pasting, within that, or when a signature is used as part of a message and goes "nuts" when you try to edit it.

Hope this wasn't "writing too much" for you!

Here we are in late March 2014 and STILL no postive action from Apple re Mail's cut and paste problem, or am I out of date? Has Apple finally announced it is going to tackle this ridiculously old problem, once and for all?

I somehow doubt it. I, at least, am still getting cut and paste problems...THREE YEARS after this thing first appeared on here.

Why on earth is Apple being so stubbornly pig-headed about this?

They really need showing up in public about it. Apple just loves to peddle the myth that they are just as wonderful as when Steve Jobs was running it....utter nonsense.

Come on America! Get this fiasco aired on prime time TV, if nothing else!!

PeterUK,

Well, I'm still getting notified when someone adds or comments on this forum, hence my reply here! However, the notifications of activity are now few and far between.

Unfortunately, I agree with you that the occurances of the problem are NOT few and far between and the only way to lessen them is to use as little "special" formatting as possible. (You know, that "special" formatting that EVERY ONE uses now as second nature in most every other platform or program!)

But, alas (like that word!), Apple is silent.

When you think about it, really does seem odd since I'll bet it is somewhat of an easy fix, at least for their "genius'" (NOT) ...... at least not at the moment.

So, to Apple, I say, ask, plead nicely ........ come on ...... can't someone look at the this and fix it for us loyal, though downtrodden, customers? Please?

Please?

Thanks!

So 4 years after the first posting on this productivity issue with Mac Mail which has clearly been reported repeatedly to Apple, Apple has done ….absolutely nothing. Determined to replicate the Microsoft experience of dumbed down apps, utterly frustrating user experience and a couldn't give a toss attitude towards customer feedback - Apple is racing to the bottom. As I have replaced Notes with an App that actually syncs reliably, and iPhoto with an app that isn't continually dumbed down I will replace MacMail with the best alternative.

How hard is it to sort a cut and paste glitch out in an email app? Exactly.
