App Store's blank page - final solution

Hi,

There is simple solution for that case (forWindows 7, 64):

1. C:\ProgramData\Apple\Installer Cache\AppleApplicationSupport 2.0.1

2. Right click

3. Uninstall

4. C:\ProgramData\Apple\Installer Cache\AppleApplicationSupport 1.5.2

5. Right click

6. Install

7. Restart Windows

It's all

Thank you, Thank you. Finally a solution that worked. Got Ipad 2 couple weeks ago worked fine (windowss XP 32 bit, Itues 10.4. iPad ios 4). Updated to iTnes 10.5 and ios 5 last week and it ahs been a problem ever since. Blank itunes store screen, iTunes slow loading and hangs, computer really slow, Ipad won't sync music.. Very frustrating, annoying. Have spent hours uninstalling and reinstalling itunes. Wipng every apple piece of software, reading hundreds of forums and nothing worked. Stumbled o this thread and tried this simple solution. Not only did it work and I get Itunes back fully functional but it loads and runs faster. Thank you.

For anyone else having this problem after updating try this. Easy simple fix and it not only solved problem it improved performance!

After spending another two days on pinning down the iTunes 10.5 blank store page problem, here's the solution to be found: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3372617?start=0&tstart=0

In short:

a) press Windows key + "R", enter "cmd", and press Ctrl+Shift+Enter (= runs as admin)

b) enter "netsh winsock reset" and pres enter

c) reboot the computer

I tried a bunch of things, including the "netsh winsock reset" command, but what finally seems to have fixed it (on my sister's family Vista PC) is completely uninstalling NetNanny. Can't say with 100% certainty what the dependencies are, but it looks like in this case, the problem was NetNanny.

PS- be careful to uninstall NetNanny by the rules- it has its hooks deep into the OS.

I have been having the same issue since upgrading. I tried the Winsock reset and it temporarily solves it but you have to have Safe Eyes reset their connection after or the filter will not work. I contacted Safe Eyes and they sent the following reply:

I'm sorry for the trouble that you are experiencing. Safe Eyes is the same as it always was and it Apple that has made changes in their iTunes update that is not working with Safe Eyes. You will not be able to use 10.5 with Safe Eyes. Since you have already upgraded to IOS5 on your iPhone, you will not be able to do our recommendation of going back to 10.3 iTunes. The current iPhone OS will not work with it. The trouble is occurring with multiple Internet filters since the iTunes upgrade. We have contacted Apple and we are researching a workaround. I do not have any information as to when this will be resolve. I apologize for any inconvenience that has caused you.

Hopefully they can get the fix done quickly. At least they're aware of the issue and working to fix it. When I get an update on the fix, I will post it here.

Looks like problems with both Safe Eyes and NetNanny. Seems to be a pattern, and apparently, it's changes from Apple that triggered this. OTOH, such filtering software reminds me of a quote from "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind": "Technically, the procedure *is* brain damage."

But in this case- technically, NetNanny *is* computer sabotage.

Aahhh - finally some "official" side proved my statement right that it's APPLE / iTunes that is doing the ****, and they even confirm that it's in since version 10.4 - another of my statements proved right.

Since version 9 of iTunes, nearly 80% of the versions of iTunes Apple delivered for Windows was crappy - think back and remember the odyssey with syncing contacts and appointments with Outlook!!

Same with the iOS - it seems that Apple couldn't withstand the pressure that the jailbreak and feature-addicted community has built up, and had to add numerous features that hardly anybody uses. Moreover, all GOOD features that appeared in the developer beta versions were dropped in the final iOS4 and iOS5 releases. And since the last release of iOS3(!) I have to stand a stupid screen layout when entering new contacts - for the zip code there's twice as much space as needed in the entry field, and the city field doesn't even hold 5 characters before it starts scrolling out of view, making it hard to see what you typed. All that because some stupid designer had to INDENT the whole section.

I seriously doubt that Steve Jobs can have approved that crap.

Woah- easy on the caps-lock there...

I never said it was only Netnanny & Safe Eyes. My comment about NetNanny relates more to the general havoc it caused when I tried to remove it by conventional means. I understand that NetNanny needs extra security to do its job, but people should be aware that it causes some significant changes to the system.

Mine was my motherboard monitoring software.

I got a gigabyte G1 Guerilla and it comes with internet performance monitoring tools.

running "netsh winsock reset" and reboot reset the LSP service which was responsible for the tools.

Selecting No on restarting this service after reboot meant that my iPhone now backs up and connects to the iTunes store.

Thank you so much to the wise wise people on this forum who have alleviated my problem simply and effectively.

You are all gods.

Glad we could be of help.

It's just another case proving its Apple who's doin the mess.

In the latest iOS beta they seem to have removed using internal URLs to access preferences and things via mobile Safari.

Instead of spending their time to add even MORE annoyances, they'd be better off to remove existing ones.

Too bad Steve is no longer there to kick their rear ends!

The software in question here is iTunes, not NetNanny.

What (else) NetNanny exactly does is not known to me.

What IS known to me is that iTunes - since version 10.4.x - doesn't hook itself in correctly.

Other software - and even iTunes before v10.4.x - has/had no problems with installed third party LSPs on my systems - but I am NOT using NetNanny, so I can't say anything about it.

It's already enough that I was forced to pin down iTunes as the component being responsible for messing up my systems - I will certainly not be going to analyze another software that I don't even use.
