Will siri work on the iphone 4?

I spoke to apple support and they said onece you install ios5 in your iphone 4 siri will work a5 chip is not needed for it to work.

Whoever you spoke to at Apple Support does not know what they're talking about. Siri will be available only on the iPhone 4S. It will not come to other devices with the initial release of iOS. Whether Siri will ever be available on any other device is unknown at this time.

I read it differently, it say "available as beta only on the 4s". I don't think that implies that an IPad2 will always be excluded but again it may. There could be something else beyond an A5 needed.

Apple are simply using Siri as a selling point for the 4S, Siri beta is only available on the 4S, but i bet the final version is available to other devices too, A5 chip isnt needed

I have just contacted to the apple technical specialist about SIRI and i have been informed that SIRI will work on iphone 4 but you need to upgrade your firmware to iOS 5.

As it is completely at odds with Apple's published information, I suspect the information you have received is incorrect. But, we'll all just have to wait until 10/12.

We will have have to wait in Wednesday Oct. 12. If the iPhone 4 has some voice regication feature on the phone, but not as good as Siri.

If siri is not avaiable in the iOS 5 for the iPhone 4, you never know when siri comes out of beta, apple might release a software update so the iPhone 4 can get siri.

No it will not is what I have read.. Apparently SIri needs a lot of computing power which the I phone 4 does not have and the 4S does have. Hence. Siri is Arifical Intelligence and it is not easy to run these things on the current chip.

Yet, waiting for the IOS 5 in India.. 🙂

I own the pre-Apple version and it works on my iPhone 4 until tomorrow when Apple shuts it off. Not cool.

Nothing to do with the A5 chip! even the A5 would struggle with voice recognition at that level (or Artificial intelligence) as you call it

All of the processing is done off the Phone (Hence you need internet connection)

Apple also say that Siri is available in beta only on the 4S... so they are using it as a selling point as soon as there is a finished version I bet its available on the iphone 4 too

So what is the verdict?! is SIRI on the iphone 4 with iOS 5 running???

It's rediculous! Why siri is not working on my iphone 4?!

I just updated my iphone 4 to IOS 5 because of siri and now it is not working.

you can compare devices here and you will see SIRI IS only for 4S

I read it like that: If you own the old SIRI-App, it will work in the future on the iphone 3Gs and iphone 4, but only if iOS5 is installed! So all existing users are hopefully not blamed.
