Will Siri work on the iPhone 4?
No, it needs iPhone 4s or newer.

So what is the verdict?! is SIRI on the iphone 4 with iOS 5 running???
Why would it be? Siri is still in beta, and its only available on the iPhone 4s in beta

you can compare devices here and you will see SIRI IS only for 4S
You will notice it also says Siri beta is only available on the 4S
i´ve been asking the same question, and found in youtube, that probably siri will be in iphone 4 also 15 oct, but we will have to wait and see what happens!
First of all as you already know Siri is still in Beta-Phase.and for now Siri will only be avalible on the new iPhone 4gs.However Siri will also be released for the older iPhones(3gs,4g), just not right now.
Siri doesn't requir the new A5 processor, because the processing is handeled at an external Server.
You can see the iPhone 4gs as an ticket for an exclusiv testing phase of Siri.
So Siri is a marketing tool to increase the demand of the new iPhone 4gs.
@iSiri, I find it very difficult to take the advice of someone that can't even identify the phone correctly as the iPhone 4s, not gs.
No. Siri app is nothing like Siri now on the iPhone 4S. You have a voice-recognition process (likely from Nuance), text-to-speech process (Siri's voice; Apple's own), and Siri artificial intelligence process (which was changed to work with iOS 5), instant network communication to Apple's servers, ALL RUNNING AT THE SAME TIME to create the interaction that you have with Siri. Much more processing power is needed for it to be/feel effortless, as it should be. iPhone 4S is basically two times more powerful that the iPhone 4.
non of the processing is done on the phone, even the A5 coudnt handle it.
Incorrect. Alot of the processing is done on the phone, in fact all of the ones I mentioned above are processes that run on the iPhone. The only one that is shared (with Apple servers) is the logic/A.I. for Siri.
I have to say that I'm pretty upset with apple. I have purchased every IPhone upgrade that has been sold and I even have an Ipad2, and they not going to let me use Siri until I upgrade my Iphone 4 to a 4S. I can't ungrade until December.
What were you thinking Apple.
Where have you read that, you have obviously not looked into the amount of processing power true voice recognition needs, a lot more than an A5, that it why it says Internet connection needed.
I'm hoping it works. I have Siri on my iPhone 4 and have for months. It's really useful. All of a sudden it has dissapeared from the App Store. When I open the app now it says
"I've been replaced! The new Siri is even smarter and better looking than me, and waiting for you on the iPhone 4S. I'll be leaving for home Oct 15th."
"Until then... how can I help you?
I guess we'll see tomorrow what happens....
The Siri creators said about their former Siri app, wich was avalible until the iPhone 4s was released, that they had to cut some features in order to make it work on the iPhone 3gs and maybe the iPhone 4 of wich I'm not 100% sure.
So now with the iPhone 4s they could add some features, beacause of the A5.
As a result of that the new Siri app wich is integrated in iOS 5 will not be released for older iPhones after all.
@mweingar, sorry for the mix up, had the iPhone 3g in my mind. Therfore I accendentally added the "g" to the iPhone 4s.
It appears to me it is NOT going to work. Now I get the message:
Sorry, a problem occured receiving response from the server.
:(
Apperantly Siri doesn't need as much processing power as excpected, because someone already succeded in porting Siri to the iphone 4, but in my opinion the iPhone 3gs and 3g can't handel the processing power Siri needs. However it's still unclear if apple officialy releases Siri for the iphone 4, when it's out
of the Betaphase.
