Did the Facebook App Update Kill My Phone?

My iPhone 4 is frozen after updating the Facebook app with today's update. I turned it off, and now it will not restart. Apple logo shows for upwards of 15 minutes. Does anyone have any ideas? I am on the road for work, and do not have the computer with me that I sync my phone to. This is potentially a debilitating injury, as I basically live on my phone when I am on the road (and at home as well).

Do not panic!

Same happened to me: Update on an iPhone 4 (iOS 4) did NOT work. Tried to reinstall and did not wait long enough. Then I tried a reset: Restart took roughly 20 minutes - but it worked!!

So try a reset and wait at least half an hour. It could depend on how many apps you got installed since in my opinion the phone needs to re-configure the "Springboard" (=the iPhone's desktop).

Just adding my vote for the iPhone Explorer + iTunes method. Opened both programs, shut off phone with home+sleep/wake buttons, plugged in, waited . . . 10 minutes later, phone came back to life.

My problem was also tied to the Facebook app update. I deleted the app this morning, then added it again through app store. I did notice that the wording in the new FB app kept referring to iPad NOT iPhone. Didn't think much of it, but I'm wondering if they somehow put the iPad app in the iPhone section of the app store. Might explain some of these issues.

Mine hung up during the install of the Facebook app. I did a few resets but could not get past the apple logo. I connected it to my MacBook and after about 5 minutes I finally heard the connection sound. iPhoto opened up and I was able to transfer new photos... finally my iPhone was recognized by iTunes and stated the backing up / sycing process. It took forever for the new facebook app to be copied into iTunes but finally the sync was completed. Everything is working fine now. It definitely had something to do with the new facebook app - I did not have any problems with upgrading the app on my iPad last night.

I had the blue Facebook loading screen issue as well. Luckily, I came in here before doing anything rash. In the end, I connected to iTunes and loaded Facebook. Then I put the phone down and walked away. After about 20min, I came back and all was well. The APP had finished loading and has worked fine since.

I did not delete the app or do anything different, other than to load it while connected to iTunes.

Ya, yesterday when I was driving home. My car stalled, had to pull over. Called my dad to help me because my car went haywire and had to get a tow truck, used my phone. It was being funny. I was on facebook, and it was freezing. I turned off my phone and tried to turn it back on and it wouldn't turn on. Imagine if I didn't call my dad ahead of time and with a car stuck on the side of the road and no phone, i'd be screwed. Got home and synced it to my computer and 5-10 min later, it came back to life. Darn you fb!! LOL :/

Before everyone restores their phone please I urge everyone to download the iExplorer on your computers afterwards open iExplorer and iTunes together then plug in your phones you may have to wait awhile depending on how many apps you may have on your computers, but it definitely worked or at least it definitely worked for me just try waiting it out and make sure your volume is on so if you leave the computer you'll hear the phone once the computer recognizes it ;-) thanks to the people who posted the advice it worked and I'm so thankful LOL
